The Estonian National Defense College will hold memorial lineup at 5:00 on December 1 in front of the former Tondi military school in Tallinn to pay tribute to the four cadets who lost their lives in the 1924 Bolshevik coup attempt.
The ceremony will begin at exactly the same hour when the troopers stormed the school 86 years ago.
The barracks of the Tondi military school were the first target to come under attack by the Soviet-backed insurrectionists in the early hours of December 1, 1924.
The aim of the coup was to take control of the capital's main infrastructure and its military garrison, after which the troopers would have declared a Soviet Republic and called in help from the Red Army. The coup was, however, put down on the same day, with 39 civilian, police and army casualties.
In 1928, a memorial statue was unveiled at the school, which was destroyed by the Soviet authorities after Estonia was finally occupied in 1940. The monument was rebuilt and reopened in 2009.
