How are Ashkenazi Jews middle eastern?

Everyone is saying Ashkenazi Jews have middle eastern ancestry. How can they be middle eastern if they look nothing like middle easterners????????!!!!!!! What I mean is, I am half ashkenazi jewish, half western/northern european, and apparently I look Central European, and not middle eastern. So how can I have middle eastern ancestry?????????

Yes becuase being 96% North European and having 4% Siberian admixture makes someone of Asiatic origin.

7eleven, difficult to define because theres various phenotypes prevalent in the middle east. Ashkenazi Jews have some middle eastern ancestry but it's very heavily diluted, but keep in mind that Ashkenazi is not specific to a "racial" or "genetic" group but simply defines a Jew of the specific region and culture they are from. There are a lot of Sephardic Jews that intermarried with Ashkenazi and adapted Ashkenazi culture.

A lot of the Ashkenazi took on Germanic names during the time they settled and no surprise that with many many years of living amongst the population, appearances are going to change especially with mixing.

I've seen Ashkenazi that look Sephardic and I've seen Sephardic that look Ashkenazi.

I know Persian Jews who have a white skin and blue eyes and blonde hair and their brothers or sisters are darker so features can vary.

Or Mix some lebanese with some italians or greeks , you get similar to sephardim. Though randomly those three persons easily fit in the range .
