I ran into a friend of mine who works for one of the companies that makes one of the genetic test used for personal genomics. (trying to be a bit ambiguous there)

She and her husband have been exploring surrogacy as an option to have a child. She informed me that they had just rejected one potential woman due to "abnormalities" with her genetic profile.

My question is before you have children, will you have genetic testing performed on your mate?

If yes; why? What would you be screening for?

If no; why not?

And for those of you that already had children do you wish you had done it before; do you plan to perform the testing?

Does the state of the technology/science influence your decision?

No. It sounds too cold and calculating to do something like that. For me whatever happens happens, I don't think we need to worry too much and keep things like this in the back of our head all the time. We have enough issues/stress. Let nature decide at least some things.
