The FTDNA Deep Clade results partially came in, they are still testing further, but as predicted by the Middle Eastern J2 Project .. I am officially confirmed as
J2a4h2a J-L70
Nobody yet matches me past 12 Y markers. The next closest hit is 50 of 67, some guy from Iraq. I upgraded to 111, pending results, I suppose someday that might prove useful.
I get so jealous when I see people that have so many matches on their Y line.
I might be ignorant but I didn't know J2 was that common in Iran....congrats anyway.

It is from what I'm lead to believe, especially among Persians.

That link looks very suspect, it doesn't match what I've read at all. Here is an actual geneticist study (from Uuniversity College London-a top flight school) (rather than a limited sample project)...although it does also suggest a fairly common rate for J2 in Iran

Thanks for that link. I am not sure how suspect the blog is, the admin is the admin of the FTDNA Iranian DNA project. His data (I believe) comes from FTDNA tested individuals with Iranian paternal lines.
In any case, J2 is somewhat common in Iran.

Fair enough, I didn't look in depth, it just that when he said that R1a is 2% of Iranian
'Persians' I got a bit sceptical. Anyway, congrats on the results.

Thanks Man.. I do have a lot to learn, and appreciate your input.

My ancestors were supposed to be from:

Which is why my great-grandfather was called Hamdollah Zanjani Ghochani

I am also J2a4h2a L70, but a different sub group within it. As you have probably noticed, its extremely spread out and varied.
I didnt know J2 or J1 had a phylogeny that long.

Yea.. yet oddly enough we share certain facial features. We should start a J2a4h2a Picture Project, it would be interesting to see the faces of our distant "cousins".

would be interesting to find out that every j2a4h2a person looks similar:lol: I wonder what effect that would have on genetics and phenotype studies.
