Basically, if you're European, checking rs6793295 (https://www.23andme.com/you/explorer/snp/?snp_name=rs6793295) will tell you if you're gonna age faster.

Each C a person has at rs6793295 is associated with a reduction in telomere length compared to someone with TT at this SNP.

My result is TT. What's yours? :p

Both me and my dad are TT

Well, I'm not exactly "European" really but TT.

I'm CT but all my grandparents are old. Is this available in the clinical reports?

Is there a gene that will tell you how long you will live until you die of age?

CT. The women in my family outlived the men by decades, living to be near 100, but the men died around 70.

In my family it's the men who live way longer.

People on my maternal side live quite a long time. One of my great grandmothers lived to be 103, and one of my great grandfathers died at 97, I believe, and his wife is still alive at 94-95

Yeah, and going by this result, they probably look it. :p

I have to say my maternal grandmother doesn't exactly look like she's 20, but she barely has any wrinkles, and she's like 75 or something. My paternal grandmother sort of looks aged.

Guess we better read into this a bit, nothing is 100%...probably just loosely associated.

Of course, in the end, many genes and environmental factors determine the pace of the aging process. This is just one piece of the puzzle.

Clearly the secret in my bloodline is not in telomere length...perhaps it is in the longer individual generation-lengths of cells, and not how many times they divide or are "reborn"

My dad looks really old for his age(he used to drink and smoke a lot.), but my mother looks really young.
