Ethiopia (pronounced /ˌiːθiˈoʊpiə/) (Ge'ez: ኢትዮጵያ ʾĪtyōṗṗyā) , officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, is a landlocked country situated in the Horn of Africa. Ethiopia is bordered by Eritrea to the north, Sudan to the west, Kenya to the south, Somalia to the east and Djibouti to the northeast. Its size is 1,100,000 km² with an estimated population of over 79,000,000. Its capital is Addis Ababa.

They have had contacts with most every culture in the red sea basin, africa, and europe (axum was a major political entity during the time of the romans) and are ethnically comprised of three components, a native east african component, A north african component, and a South west arabian component. Contact has been mutual on both sides of the red sea..

that's gotta depend on the person speaking and mood ? It's true afro asiatic languages in general have tones which are a bit harsh to the untrained european ear. but dude, if you speak a bit of any of these languages, it starts sounding real beautiful. all these deep consonants and the use of muscles deep in the throat are very expressive.

mostly afro-asiatic, that is the family that comprises the cushitic and then arabic/hebrew groups, although there are some nilo-saharan speakers there. The afro-asiatics are said to have originated some time back from kordofan in sudan, although it is debated and i don't know how much credit can be given to those theories of large groups of people radiating from a small geographic area.
