As funny as the video may be, this topic is very serious. No doubt homophobia is the norm in most African countries. Even though I find homosexuality very nasty (my opinion), I am not sure if this extreme form of abusing human rights and freedom is the way forward for us Africans.

The more homosexuality becomes a taboo, the more closeted homosexuals their will be and I am in doubt this will increase the rates of HIV infection in young women. What do you think is the way forward?

Here's the real issue. Africa is going through the same social upheavals that the West experienced during the last century. Nobody likes change to society's status quo, your cultural norms, etc. Back in the day, eveeryone in Africa got married at the age of 15, lived with extended family, etc. The AIDS epidemic tooka toll on the traditional family structure (parents dying leaving orphans to be taken care of by grandparents...single mothers, etc), as has globalization, urbanization, falling standard of living (most SSAfrican countries had higher standards of living in the 60s compared to now).

This is just a lash back against the extreme change, where homosexuality is becoming more acceptable, in a traditional and very religious society like uganda.
