I remember this link being on the old forum. It allows people to see the distribution of Surnames across certain parts of the world.

Coincidently my surnames distribution around Europe corresponds roughly to the areas where Turkish people (as its a common Turkish surname) have settled to in Europe. The highest frequency is in Austria where apparently nearly 20 out of every million people share my surname.

My mothers maiden name is not common at all and its a Turkish surname from Cyprus, its only represented in the UK. The highest frequency is in Scotland where 1 out every million people share my mothers maiden name.

My surname is as Maltese as can be yet your link said the highest rate of my surname is Australia, France, UK and BC Canada. My surname can be French or English, it is in the English dictionary, but it is 100% Maltese. Very odd, no Malta mentioned. Highest rate 245.16 Australia, top cities Marseille, Manchester and Bristol.

My paternal surname isn't found anywhere in the WNP database. While my maternal is called here to have "European_other western" and "German" roots (in fact it has some old germanic etymology) and people of that surname can be found in Poland, Norway, Belgium UK, US and Argentine.

It is an odd program. My partner's surname is Scottish, yet Scotland gets no mention, highest country USA.

My mother's surname also Maltese is shown as being highest in Australia.

Obviously the program is based on post immigration effects in "new" countries like USA, Australia, NZ and Canada, probably Mexico for Hispanic surnames.
