Most of the Samoans both men and women I have seen in the Philippines and in Hawaii are tall and big-boned. They are well-known for their body size and the stereotype of Samoans are body builders, body guards, athletes (Sumo wrestlers, Football and Rugby players) and any other profession that requires big physiques with strength to match.
Do you think it's mostly their diet that significantly affected their body size comparable to other Pacific Islanders? Is there a behavioral and cultural component as to why they eat so much, such as stocking up in case of famine or it's customary to eat during events such as weddings and ceremonies? Do you think it's their perception of beauty, being tall and big-boned? And what IS their diet and the calories they consume in a day?
