I've created the official Folding@home team of ForumBiodiversity.com:

For those of you who want to contribute with computer power (either from your PlayStation 3 or PC/Mac computers) to the noble cause of protein folding research (it can help cure cancer and other diseases), please visit the following links for more information:

The number of ForumBiodiversity's F@H team, is 173336, so if you want to contribute to our team, add that number in your PS3 (and if you want to be recognised in the stats, use the donor name you post with on this forum). I will add PS3 instructions soon, with screenshots.

Those of you who have a PS3, when in the XMB menu, go to Network and then to Life with PlayStation. When you're in Life with PlayStation, you hold down the square button until a menu pops up. Here you can choose between Live Channel, World Heritage, United Village and last but not least, Folding@Home. Folding is what we're interested in on ForumBiodiversity. So you choose Folding@home.

When in Folding@Home, you hold down the triangle button until a menu pops up. Press down until you reach Identity. Press X and you have three alternatives:

1) Change Donor Name
2) Join an Existing Team
3) Create a Team

You can either change your donor name to the one you use as your regular PSN ID, or your forum user name. Your choice. But in Join an Existing Team, you fill in the team number: 173336.

This team number is the official Folding@Home team of ForumBiodiversity.com and the idea here is that we members of ABF will compete with other F@H teams by contributing CPU and GPU power to help scientists understand how protein folds and unfolds, and thereby, helping them develop cures to cancer, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and similar diseases.

Below, what it looks like when your PS3 folds. The global map with yellow dots shows all the currently online PS3 members in the world, donating CPU power to the Folding@home project. Of course, not every yellow dot is a single PS3 user, but where those dots are placed, there's a significant amount of PS3 users contributing to the Folding@home project. The other picture shows the molecules being simulated.

Just did it. The directions didn't help. They must have changed how to go about it since you signed up. But it wasn't hard to figure out.

I didn't have many options to choose from. In fact, my only option was Folding@Home.

I'm Humanoid. I was going to pick "Man with a Large Penis" as my donor name but decided against it.

Count me in aswell. I have managed to complete 2 work units and I must say that it takes like 2 solid days just to complete a single work unit on my crappy AMD Sempron Palermo 3000+ (socket 754).

So I'll probably only be a very irregular contributor as my computer is much quicker at processing World Community Grid work units, which I would like to focus on right now (unless I can be convinced that WCG is crap compared to folding@home).

Elias how did you manage to complete 311 work units? That would probably take my PC 2 years to complete.

It's probably because you have an NTSC-US PS3 whereas I have a PAL PS3, so the regional differences is probably noticeable in Life With PlayStation/Folding@home

I fold with my PS3 when I don't kick ass in Street Fighter IV, Crash Commando, God of War III or Dante's Inferno

I have a lot more than 311 Work Units though, I've been folding with my PS3 since 2007.
