I cannot fathom how anyone could do this, mankind sometimes depresses and shocks me.
Maybe it would be easy to say he had some kind of psychological problem, but thats possibly just an easy way of disregarding and disassociating ourselves with this kind of barbarity.
One of the main problems with society today is that we're so quick to pass the blame onto mental or emotional issues so that we can maintain the illusion that humanity isn't capable of these sorts of horrific acts.
It's quite possible, at least in my opinion, that this guy is completely sane.
^^ Completely agree ^^ The same thing happens with sociologist at a collective scale with slums and their populations, they usually end up justifying what's happening in the favelas, based mainly on the social inequalities that produce them but lately to me that seems like an awful reductionism that actually functions as a way for these type of people to exploit their victimization.

Forget everything else, how does anyone rape a six month old baby??? Does this bastard really deserve to live another day?
Poor kid, not only has he got this guys genes, but he will have HIV, and probably live to find out it was his dad that raped him, I have no idea how that will affect him psychologically. Possibly the worst form of torture ever conceived couldn't beat that.

Agreed, the buck has to stop somewhere, its great to be able to play the blame game, but there are plenty of people who have done great things with their life, crawling out the gutter of some horrible childhood.
People are obsessed with catorgoriseing illness, im sure if anyone here was analysed for long enough, we'd all be given some diagnosis of some petty psychological or mental illness, there are thousands out there. No, sorry, the guy clearly is aware of morality, even if his doesn't fit the social norms, he knows its wrong.
If his lawyers claim he's "mentally ill" let's put him out of his misery.
What good will that do?
He's 29. Put him in jail for life without parole and he suffers for ~50 years, that is, if his HIV doesn't develop into full blown AIDS and if he's not raped and killed by other inmates.
Put a death cocktail in his arm and he gets his choice of a last meal and he's allowed to escape his punishment with a relatively painless needle prick in ~20 years.
If he does develop AIDS, it's all moot since he'll be dead before he runs out of appeals anyway.
Regardless, his kid will still have been raped, and possibly infected with HIV.
The kid will have an easier time forgetting about his dad if he knows he isn't alive. I couldn't imagine the pain he'd go through every time he hears about what his dad did to him, and he's surely going to find out one way or another.

I would agree but prisons aren't really hard enough on criminals like him. I just don't think he should be allowed to live another day after what he's done. If he goes to prison he's going to be fed 3 meals a day and a bed to sleep on, books to read, visitors, cigarettes, whatever. I don't think he deserves any of that. Now, if he was forced to stay in a room with just a toilet, a 5 inch mattress and fed bread and water for the rest of his life I might think prison could be a decent enough punishment, but it's not. He needs to suffer a slow and painful death and buried in an unmarked grave in a junkyard.
