All companies are flawed and greedy (they jack the prices up as they get more customers). No matter what company you choose, Gedmatch is ultimately superior (even though it's certainly not perfect in any way).

That's how businesses work, they need to make money and when prices for shipping in general goes up, so will the kits. Though the prices hadn't really changed all that much (some used to be way more expensive when they first started). Plus if you look for sales, discounts, etc....that also drops the prices down a bit.

Though you need those companies in order to use GEDmatch and their results always seem different/off for me. I tend to get French, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria in my population results which is kind of odd as I am none of those.

If anything prices have gone down over the years. I remember back in 2009 when a 23andMe test cost 500 bucks, which in itself was a price drop from the previous price @ 1000 USD.

In fact, they are not even the Europeans in strict sense, meaning European as in bearing the responsibility and understanding of European interests. Poland has always been an subordinate country, on one side sucking German dick, on the other side -- Russian one, some kind of "novice" europeans, who are full of inferiority complexes, hysteria and obsessity neuroses. This is also true for all Baltic countries

You mean you get those results in Gedmatch?

Some of those calculators are REALLY weird, too...

    Hello,

I want to see where my ancestors come from and for that reason plan to use one of these genetic tests, but I have few questions 'for dummies' before making a decision:

    1. Do the tests reveal evidence of genetic background - for instance as a Bulgarian will I understand if I have more Balkan, than Slavic blood?

    2. Which company is reputed for being the most accurate in breaking down one's genetic material?

    3. How will I 'read' the information from the results in a way that helps me understand my areas of origin, will I figure out what populations/regions in Europe are closest to me?

Thank you in advance for all informative answers.

    Default Question

New user here and a first time poster. So i just used nat geo's Geno 2.0 and my test is currently at:
    "Sample Processing
Success! Our lab has isolated your DNA! The next step in the process is analysis of your DNA to uncode your ancestral journey. As a reminder, it takes eight to ten weeks to process your DNA from the time we receive your sample.

How long did it take for you guys that've used to get the results?

    Cheers!
