99% of my neg reps were directed at people that insult me.

1% was against people being unjust to others (eg Smartcelt)

It has another perk- you do not need to reclick from one field to another to make comment negative- as it is 'default' positive. You say its 'quick way to communicate' for you- it will be even quicker.
