Their Y-DNA seems to be mainly M81, while their mtDNA seems to be mainly Eurasian. Correct me if I'm wrong. M81 doesn't seem to exist in the Horn, but the subclade seems to be relatively young, and M78 is still pretty common among North Africans.

But yeah, them receiving a higher African score on 23andme than Horners would suggest that there has been some West African admix.

I think we'll be able to say a lot more on this whole issue once the Maasai are in my analysis. I've just downloaded their genotypes.

Merged ethioboy's thread with Polako's, no need to have two different threads about this very same topic.

In fact, they are not even the Europeans in strict sense, meaning European as in bearing the responsibility and understanding of European interests. Poland has always been an subordinate country, on one side sucking German dick, on the other side -- Russian one, some kind of "novice" europeans, who are full of inferiority complexes, hysteria and obsessity neuroses. This is also true for all Baltic countries

I ran into some conversion problems between the HapMap and HGDP data, hence the hold up. But everything's under control now. The Maasai are on board, and they're a really interesting addition to my project, because their dataset hasn't been featured in any studies I've seen to date. All I can tell you now is that they're very different from other Sub-Saharan Africans.

I'll have some new results very soon...

Oh, I wonder who they're admixed with?

No but seriously, I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

    Thanks for the update.

I'm having difficulty comprehending this chart as no labels are provided. What do those coloured bars show, and what do the numbers represent?

And for the "inferred ancestry" table, it's clear it shows the K=7 results. But what is the order of these numbers? #4 is obviously "European".

Edit: I'm participating in this project, and am wondering who else is here. Please feel free to PM me, and I'll share who I am too.

You can check which population each of the samples comes from by looking at the key above. Each Orcadian, for example, is (1).

Also, the clusters are numbered on the phylogenetic tree. For instance, yellow is 4, which corresponds to the 4th figure in the ancestry table.

    I am 7(105).

My percentages, and what I understand them to correlate with (please correct me if I am wrong):

    Sub-Saharan- 1.7%
    Oceanian- .5%
    Northeast African- 1.4%
    West Eurasian- 92.4%
    East Asian- .5%
    Central/South Asian- 3.4%
    Amerindian- .2%

The Sub-Saharan and Central/South Asian are higher than expected. At least, relatively speaking. For example, I appear to have a greater Sub-Saharan component than most Druze, Palestinians, and some Israeli Bedouins.

How did you select your 750 markers? I mean, what sort of logic did you employ?

Thank you very much for putting this together. These sort of structure analyses are always quite fascinating.
