btw, the people who suffered the most from Affirmative Action have been Asians. Many universities have quotas limiting Asians (or had them, don't know about now) because they are over represented at top universities. So how is it fair to them? They do have a point, though. It's foolish to blame all the bad in NWB upon inherent genetic retardation or smth like that. Ghettoization and broken social lifts sure have a high impact upon the behaviour of social/ethnic groups which I can confirm from my post-Soviet experience.

The generations now are not responsible for what their ancestors did, the same applies for the children and grandchildren of the Nazis. But forgetting history or being ignorant DOES make you responsible. And when you agree with what they did makes you also dangerous. Yes, I think that sometimes we have to apologize for what our peoples did to the others beause this is a good start and basis of a forecoming friendship and cooperation. Admitting historical facts and our mistakes, is maturity and well intention. People shouldn't forget the terrible facts that happened in the past, but this should be an example they have to remember to go forward and become more humanistic. Otherwise both sides fall in a vice circle.
As for slavery and exploitation, is a big issue. It also exists nowadays, even when it is not that obvious for some. What about trafficking and prostitution (and for many white women as well, children and young boys), what about European, American, Asian and African working class that suffers under the exploitation of monopolies. Especially now in Europe, people return back to previous centuries as far as labour achievements are concerned. The majority of the world suffers under a small minority. There is no colour in exploitation. Things are becoming more obvious now in Europe and America because so many years we were living in a fake world of prosperity. We people shouldn't fall in the trap of racism now, let's stand for our rights as equal beings against the world's exploiters. That's all.
As for the black slavery that took place (it still does in another form in Africa), yes we need to remember it and feel sorry for what happened. And we should figth for not such things happen ever and ever again and to fight for the ceasing of the nowadays forms of slavery
