Quoted for truth:
23andme answered and told me that they are working diligently and will move all customers to the new website experience. In my opinion they have worked now more than one year. They also refused to refund my money because it has gone over 30 days from the order date. Indeed, I read the contract and the product description and only following ancestral reports were mentioned:
DNA Relatives tool
But this list is updated after I placed my order.
Probably useless and typical but here are mine:
Seems like a waste of time for people who are admixed and have been for multiple generations now. Especially people who are admixed in every genetic direction you take on our DNA.
North European 27.23%
North Amerindian + Arctic 15.74%
West African 9.37%
Southwest Asian 9.77%
I asked also how they are going to solve the problem arising from the difference between regional histories. In the colonial Americas ancestral admixture history is at the most only 500 years old. In Europe it is 3-10 times older, basically from the Bronze Age to the Migration Period and newer admixtures are less interesting outside the Slavic expansion area. Even younger European admixtures can be derived from those older ones.
I got the test for Christmas and I and waiting for my results (the site said it is almost ready). I can't say how accurate or inaccurate and all that the timeline will be until my results are ready; but I have heard about it and find it at least interesting.
I just received an email from 23and me informing me that the new features are turned on- and indeed, they are now.
I looked at them and saw the timeline. It is weird.
I have four ancestor listed on the timeline- one recent one described as eastern European, then 4-7 generations back one Balcan, then 5-8 one british-Irish and one Finish and then 6-8+ one Mongolian.
I sincerely doubt having any of them coming actually from those parts of the world at the time- apart from the eastern European one.
