    Default What's the difference between Nordics and Nordids?

    Is there a difference? Isn't Nordic a more broad term that applies to a bunch of different subraces or not?

    Nordic

    Nordish

    Nordid

    I try to keep Ethno-Geopolitical and Typological terminologies as separate as possible, to avoid confusion.

    Because of that, to me Nordid=/=Nordic, Mediterranid =/= Mediterranean, Pontid =/= Pontic, Dinarid =/= Dinaric, and so on. Even if people like to choose to use them as one.

    Nordid is a typological classification used by dark age anthropologists of the German school (think pith helmets and monocles). Emcee von Eickstedt and Bertil "Funky Iceman" Lundman pretty much popularized the term. Lundy was a Swede and I think he was the one who actually coined the -id stuff-- Eickstedt and his disciples just ran with it.

    Nordic can mean a host of different things. As usual, it's context, context, context.

    Oh and for reference "-id" means belonging to or connecting with, while "-oid" means like or resembling.

    oid = having/similar/partially
    id = completely/entirely/fully.

    -oid = similar
    -id = specific

    Noric is derived from Noricum province, not related etymology at all.

    Noric is a rare classification, only used for specific sub-types of Nordids. They are very rare, they're phenotype is considered 'classical' (kind of like the prototype of Nords). It is very strict: You must have flaxen /white gold hair, blazing blue eyes (not pale or regular blue) or steel grey. In other words, picture and even more idealized version of the German 'super race'.

    Noric is a dinaricized Nordid opposed to a dinaricized atlanto-med, after Coon.
