Was there an overlap with Iraqi Semitic speakers?

Where they of the greater Mesopotamian peoples?

Based strictly on geography, they likely shared more genetically with Babylonians, than Middle and Neo era Assyrians.
I [Nebuchadnezzar] made a trench searching for the old foundation deposits ( . . . ), and I found the foundation of Naram-Sin, the king of Babylon, a remote ancestor, and I did not remove his inscription, but put my own inscription together with his inscription.

Probably closer to the Babylonians who have long vanished both genetically and culturally. There remains are only to be remembered.
