I've been to Troy, or what is now 'Truva', in the western Turkish city of Canakkale. No one can know whether the actual war took place or not but it seems almost certain that the Troy in Turkey, is the correct one. It makes sense, aside from all the accounts of Hittites and other Anatolian cultures and what has been found in digs, Truva is close to Greece and the Aegean islands. I remember Homer describing lots of islands in the Iliad. There are around 1400 islands in the region.

I like to believe Hektor existed too. That would make him my ancestor

What is the evidence of Troy having "[an] egalitarian almost democratic society"?

sure... you're ancestors, presuming you have real european blood, are more likely the ones that Hector fought against though, and they would be dissapointed to know you accepted non-indoeuropean identity, especially turkish one.

And here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLA5yx_y2jM this show was suppose to have only real battles recreated and non-gamers to command. This time they "recreated" a fictional battle and put gamers to command it.

If troy existed was ruled and habited by Hittites.

    Hittite government

The Hittites are thought to have had the first constitutional monarchy. This consisted of a king, royal family, the pankush (who monitored the king's activities), and an often rebellious aristocracy. The Hittites also made huge advances in legislation and justice. They produced the Hittite laws. These laws rarely used death as a punishment. For example, the punishment for theft was to pay back the amount stolen.

At the same time as Hittites? Hittites are one of the ancient peoples who's accounts verify the existence of Troy, why would Trojans be Hittites?

    EDIT: Typo
