Have to say though as Scot who has lived in various places in England over the last couple of years I can definitely see a difference in looks between the Scots and the English with the English on average being taller and blonder than the Scots, infact I have seen some people that would look completely out of place in Scotland.

Oh an EDL freak who happens to find Germans! The report is probably crap as I think it just points to northern Europe (where but not when. It could have been 500 BC.

Typical sensationalist nonsense. I doubt that very few Brits have German blood, but Germanic blood on the other hand...I guess that there are quite a few people who have ancient ancestry dating back to the original settlement of the Angles, Saxons, Jutes etc.

    Nothing new.

A new study has revealed that up to half of British men have German blood as a result of the Anglo-Saxon migration following the collapse of the Roman Empire.

Academics at University College London (UCL) found a segment of the Y chromosome which is present in virtually all north German and Danish men is also found in half of British men, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Actually, after about 1 1/2 millenniums everybody in England and many people in Wales and Scotland must have at least some ancestry from the NW of Germany (that means speakers of a West Germanic language, what English is still for the most part). It's of course annoying that there is so much inaccuracy in the English language and therefore this frequent confusion whether someone is referring to Germanic tribes in antiquity and early medival times or simply to modern Germans.

well, from what i can see, AF matches under 7cm are rarely in my RF list..
I once tried thinking for an entire day, but I found it less valuable than one moment of study. I once tried standing up on my toes to see far out in the distance, but I found that I could see much farther by climbing to a high place.

I will read it through later, but if I got it right from a quick glance- its like the case of Magyars, as they use non-IE language but their blood relations tiwh neighbours, mostly Slavic and germanic, is very strong?
Anglo-Saxon would conquer and assimilate the pre-Britons?

I suspect Germanic languages were actually spoken in England pre- the saxon invasion to some degree.

Also the Canti (Kent) were a Belgic people.
That's right, they were settling from 500 BC onwards.
There's a dipthong found in Dutch/Flemish eg. in "huis" [höys] or [hæys] which can also be heard in southern England and Wales and also in Dublin & Belfast where the Belgae (Fir Bolg) also settled.
The Belgae were to the south of the Fries and Angles who spoke the ingaevonic type of west germanic, as these areas now all speak Dutch, a descendant of another west germanic - Low Franconian, it's reasonable to think that belgic was also ingaevonic as further south where Gaulish and/or Low Latin were spoken Franconian didn't displace them but modified them into Old French.
