Nothing said here really changes the relationship marx or che and had to the world, even if marx and che were explicitely racist doesn't make mean anything in terms of their contribution to the . Marxes political-philosphies have still been widely used to change the world to a more morally healthy world. This thread is just some petty denounication(defamation) by the "critical free-thinking elite" on the board. There is plenty of marxist theory(if people actually cared to read his texts, instead of condensed, angled "critical assements" by right-wing think intellectuals), dealing with racial discrimination. It's really convinent to post some excerpts from personal letters and writings, not taking into account the age at which it was written, or other contradictory material.

They fought for values such as emancipation, liberation, freedom, justice..etc. so how could they accommodate that with racism? (Esp. in Gandhi's case).
It's not that strange. If your view is that some groups are able and others are not, we can expect you to apply your beliefs differently. Gandhi believed his own group was able but not Blacks.

it's hard to really really know someone's true personality sometimes, this is why its wiser to only idolize people in your own ethnic group

It depends on when. From the diary that Ernesto wrote before he was Che, before he was a communist, when he was 24, and when he had just made significant contact with blacks for the first time, he was undoubtedly racist, and completely typical for an Argentinian professional (Argentina being overwhelmingly white), of his time. However, with further experience, and his conversion to Marxism, Guevara became a committed anti-racist and anti-imperialist. He pushed for racially integrating the schools in Cuba, years before they were racially integrated in the Southern US, and also spoke before the UN against the white South African apartheid regime (long before it became the liberal cause du jour). He also offered assistance to fight alongside the FRELIMO in Mozambique, for their independence from the Portuguese.
