    Ok but i think castles were built for defense and are usually not as pretty as palaces, while palaces were just a nice place where the kings lived. I could be wrong though.

    I know the difference, but as I said we don't differentiate between those two in the Latvian language. In Latvian pils = castle; palace. For example, Rundāles Pils (Rundāles Palace); Jelgavas Pils (Jelgavas Palace).

    The late medieval Olavinlinna (St. Olof's castle). Located in Eastern Finland. My forefathers were likely building that castle since records tell they were living on a nearby island already in the 16th century.

    That's Cardiff near me. There's much nicer ones than that though here, such as this war-worn one about 20 miles away. Battered ones are much more interesting, and we've got over 400 to choose from.
