Does anyone know about distributions for this specific subclade? My mom's highest anonymous match is a female J1c2c. She just got a new 40cM match (male) with J1c2c mtdna, R1b1b2a1a2f2 y-dna, so I'm gonna go ahead and assume it's on the same line. Hopefully her new match responds, since her highest match has not as of yet. I can't seem to find much about distributions. Is J1c2c common in Western Europe?

This haplogroup is mainly found in northern and eastern Europe from the British Isles to the Caucasus with the highest concentration around the Baltic Sea.

Thanks Biloo! That's a pretty wide distribution. I hope that one of our matches responds....

J1c2 in north western Europe is synonymous with the movement of Celtic women from Britain needed as wives in Scandinavia

Yeah, it's got too wide of a distribution to know for sure which European ethnicity her maternal line is from unless you contact her.

On my 23andme share list, Zvit has J1c2, of course. But I also have a fully Latvian person who has J1c2c.
