Note that among three Early Medieval Y-DNA samples analyzed so far there is also no R1a.
Why would they discriminate against R1a1? What are the dating of the samples that were tested?

If the samples are dated prior to 800AD, then it makes sense for scientists not testing for R1a1. Because Z280 and M458 markers did not reach Poland from eastern Slavia before that time.

Again, if I2a-L621 were already a part of the package it means the protoSlavia was not in the East but just North of Carpathia. Lesser Poland and Western Ukraine more or less.

“We know each other,” he agreed. “They say that you follow in my steps.”
“I go my own way. But you, you had never, until just now, looked behind you. You turned back today for the first time.”
Geralt remained silent. Tired, he had nothing to say. “How... How will it happen?” he asked her at last, coldly and without emotion. “I will take you by the hand,” she replied, looking him straight in the eye. “I will take you by the hand and lead you across the meadow, through a cold and wet fog.” “And after? What is there beyond the fog?” “Nothing,” she replied, smiling. “After that, there is nothing.”

Maybe they want to do a deep clade testing on R1s

To make sure the Slavic/ non Slavic question is exactly answered.

The key term here is 'if'. Until samples from proven Slavic archaeological sites of Prague-Korchak horizon are tested there's no way of knowing if I-CTS10288 was in proto-Slavic gene pool in significant amounts.
