Pierre Frédérique, Haiti c.1908 🇭🇹 He was a great figure of the militant political press of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, co-founder of the newspaper L'Emulation in 1887, founder of l'Impartial in 1897, president of the independent press Union. He attacks the German harshly at the time of the Luders affair. Following a controversy with Sténio Vincent, newspaper L'Effort, he faces the latter in a duel with the sword in July 1902 and is defeated. Zealous supporter of Antenor Firmin, he follows him in his rebellion as he follows him in exile. He participated in the landing of 1908. At the fall of North, he sued several members of the North government and especially Felix Alexis Coicou. His fight for justice for the victims of March 15, 1908 is denounced by his contemporaries as a political revenge. Exiled by president Antoine Simon, he died in New York in 1910

It is where America began, as much as it might pain some people. Not only were the great ideological questions at the individual level decided here, but also at the grand political scale (which regime would carry the torch for the emancipated countries, republicanism or royalism?). While it is true that the US process took precedence, it never represented a true breakup with the European tradition, not really, and their founders really understood this despite all their protestations of isolationism (specially since the earliest iterations of the party system there took sides on the larger Euro conflict at the time, even if indirectly).
