Does that number include Turkish diaspora? I would expect the number to be higher, among Turks living abroad, for the obvious reason of availability of local women vs. Turkish women.

No, it is only for Turks in Turkey. The diaspora number would probably be in the millions. Diaspora Turkish women also marry more foreigners too.

I think I saw somewhere that many Turkish men marry Russian women.

We also discussed this with friends in Turkey.

Russian women and Turkish men are a pretty good match. Until the Russian woman gets married, at this point forward she tries to "grab the reins" I have seen it happen a few times. If the man is ok with that, they have a successful marriage.

Russian women are eager to please and serve their men, I think they grow up in an environment of such competitiveness (for men) in Russia they apply those skills to Turkey too.

Also compared to a lot of Turkish women they are much more cultured, educated and loyal to their man. Turkish women lean more towards their pre marriage families even after marriage, whereas Russians visit their parents once a year, this is unthinkable for a Turkish woman. When a Turkish man marries a Turkish woman, he also marries her family.

That also happens here, the bride's family consider the groom as their child and the opposite...

But isn't religion a problem? What Turks think about Christian women for example? I know what was happening in the Ottoman era but things are a bit different today.

Probably because they find them attractive lol. Most of them are probably just like men everywhere in the world. Most men don't care what the nationality is of a woman as long as she is attractive.

In Islam (as far as I remember) a Muslim man can marry a Christian woman and its no problem.

Also a lot of the time the women convert by themselves (strangely) I know 3 women like this, one is Cuban, one is American and the third is Russian.

The Cuban became deeply religious, but she wasn't religious before she married and her husbands family were very conservative.
The American converted, wore a headscarf for a year and then took it off and continued as normal. Her husband was surprised since he isn't religious, although his family are.
The Russian converted to Islam, again by herself, her husband was surprised as well, although she continues to live as before (alcohol, pork, etc) and I would say is "muslim by name"

i live in italy now, but having been born and raised in Austria (Wien) i've seen a number of "mixed" couples with a turkish male partner. for some reason, austrian women (i mean those living in the capital) are attracted by mediterranean men. it's not uncommon to see greeks, italians and turks married or dating local women or women of slavic origin living in the capital. almost impossible to find the opposite, i mean turkish women dating or marrying austrian men.

when i was a teen ager i enjoyed watching on tv "Türkisch für Anfänger" (literal translation into English: Turkish for Beginners), a German television comedy-drama series, which focuses on the troubled love stories of two couples: german girl/turkish boy and turkish girl/greek boy ().

202,085 was the total number of foreigners residing in Turkey in 2010; 53,698 of these being ethnic Turks from Bulgaria.

Yabancı evliliklerle ilgili tek resmi istatistik Başbakanlık’a bağlı Aile ve Sosyal Araştırmalar Genel Müdürlüğü’nde görevli Mehmet Emin Sezgin’in uzmanlık tezinde karşımıza çıktı.
Now can we have your source?
