Yes, you are right. I misunderstood her post.

Trotsky was a very strong internationalist. USSR's foreign policy would've been far more aggressive, than it already was. Trotsky would have used his military power to actively support as many Trotskyist revolutions as possible. His foreign policy would ultimately be a disaster, as he was uncompromising in his thought. Also, the Five Year Plans were originally Trotsky's brainchild, not Stalin's. If Trotsky applied the same 'uncompromisingly ideological' fervor of his Five Year Plans, to his international policy, collectivization and industrialization could have been even more painful for the USSR, though I'm not sure if it would have had the same net effect. Trotsky's desire to export revolution, would have lead the Allies to see him as not much better than Hitler. After Hitler invaded USSR, the Allies would not have been so eager to send tanks and airplanes his way. The Russian resistance would have been weakened, and WWII would have been extended by a few years. In 1945, the Russians would be just turning the tide against the occupying Germans, who would have held Moscow for 4 years at this point. But the Germans really had no hope of winning the war, due to another development that occurred on August 9, 1945. That's right, if Trotsky had won in Russia, Truman would have had no choice but to nuke Hitler into unconditional surrender. Maybe Stalin was the lesser of two evils.

Hitler tended to make up his plans off the cuff, so it's hard to say how serious he was about Invasion USA. However, the Nazis were working on long-range missiles and bombers which they classified as being "trans-Atlantic" in range, they were pressing neutral countries for occupation rights to Atlantic Islands which would hold little strategic value, except as naval bases against the United States, and they were attempting to built up a military intelligence network in the US. All of these plans incidentally preceded 1941. Now it could be argued that these were defensive plans, to thwart the threat of an American attack, but let's face facts, Hitler was a prime believer in the theory that the best defense is a good offense. My guess is that if Britain and Russia under Trotsky had surrendered by 1942, there would have been an Axis invasion of North America by 1950.

If Trotsky took over instead of Stalin:
Then the soviet union would definitely have a much more progressive view on hairstyle.

Stalin was a staunch national communist (nationalist)whereas Trotsky was a firm believer in communism internationally in the quite literal sense. This is why Stalin had him killed in Mexico because he was worried that he would stir up unrest in Russia even being overseas.

Interestingly enough while Trotsky was in exile within Mexico he was helping American communists organize themselves and had several of them visiting him often before he was murdered.
