Default Oddest Japanese Music Success Story

A guy who identifies as "black American" who is 1/4 Japanese, speaks fluent Japanese (with no accent according to my Japanese friends due to his grandmother) and went back to Japan and became famous singing traditional Japanese Enka music

    His name is Jero (Jei-Ro)

Watch this video, they interview before he sings:

When I first saw him I thought he was going to rap, but dude bust out singing Enka, I was like....WTF...I almost fell down laughing. Then my ex was like "Oh kawaii, he is soooooo good!" Then my wife starts singing along, while I'm laughing so hard I can barely breath. He sings about 1:57 minutes in. In all honesty he is good, but the only people who buy this music in Japan are over 50 years old. Most of his shows are actually filled with nearly elderly Japanese women. SERIOUSLY!!

Have you any of you saw anything like this before?
