Yep, I'm pretty pleased and genuinely surprised (I'm quite sure most polls were in favour of No but still).

Do any of you think that the 'swinger' votes in this case were composed mainly of people of non full Scottish origin and the poorer people of Scotland who may have given in at the reasonable thought of a bumpy ride during the beginning of an independent nation?

This Spanish article points towards the affirmation of the claim concerning poor people voting in favor of the NO campaign. http://elpais.com/elpais/2014/09/19/...71_068722.html

While this one lays some ground on the argument that as many as two-thirds of young scottish of Eastern European and South Asian origin did not want a supposedly 'divided' country:

One secondary school student from an English Muslim background said: “It’s bad enough already that we’re qualified as English and Scottish…

“Let’s just say you want go for a visit to Scotland if you’re English, that’s just going to make your life even worse.

“At the end of the day we’re all human beings, right?
Half Truths, if not outright lies and propaganda which can only suit Westminster. Let's see if the word of the English is as good as their control of the Financial Economy of Britain through London, hopefully they will keep their word and concede to the DEVO MAX solution, if not this will be but one in more forthcoming referendums.

You're forgetting about the role of pensioners, which feared that their savings would vanish with independence. Not an insignificant populational group in any country of Europe these days.

Indeed. Most of them can be included though in the voter category of the elders and most of those do have a dual identity though, apparently the British one, even if a historical-juridical fiction, prevailed over the Scottish one. I should have have mentioned them. Thank You for bringing it to our attention.

Easy now. Calm down. I'm sure the Scottish prime minister and the rest of Scotland's finest politicians will act upon their promises. I certainly hope so, anyway. I can't wait to be free from the British and Scottish.
