this plant is used to create biodiesel, same as hemp or so. Not sure whether hemp offers more diesel per m² of plants, but its surely comparable.

the thing is, biodiesel is still not environmentally friendly, it may be cleaner than oil, but it still creates pollution.

wind + sun are the solution imo, that great combo of very clean power.
Solar is very close to breaking price parity with oil. Problem with solar power is storage. Old news: http://grist.org/article/solar-costs...lision-course/. But you already see the trend.

    wind...ehh.. not so much.

Capitalism failing has been predicted since Marx. As much as its a pain in the ass, the alternatives are worse (see Communism for details). Capitalism (of which even Social Democracy is a part) has proved to be too flexible a system for it to just fade away into history. It adapted from an agricultural model, to an industrial model, and it's adapting to the digital era - even with all its fits and hiccups. The reason is simple: currency/money is simply too efficient, too time-tested to simply disappear any time soon (try trading a 3D printer directly for 5 tablets, f.ex. -- or even 3.7 kg of tomatoes for an automobile and see how easy it is to get the good you actually want).

No, as far as I can see, money (and hence capitalism in some form) is here to stay - unless we get to the point where most of us can acquire all the food, clothing, shelter,, transportation, and digital communications without any help from others.
