Do you think that Ancestrydna is still worth it for Afro-descendants? I'm thinking of making youtube video of my results if I do choose to get them.

Can get a an ancestry.com or 23andme test and then use GedMatch.com which will clearly show you which sections of your DNA are European, African and potentially Native American. You will also get rough idea on regions for Europeans (like Baltic, Atlantic etc..) and Pygmy, West African .. etc for African.

Your cousin matches at 23andme will give you a much better idea of your European ancestry as you have Americans (with ethnic groups listed) and Europeans.

I already have a good idea of my European ancestry(23andme and genealogy) but I want to learn more about my African because it's shrouded in mystery because of the trans-atlantic slave trade. West African and Pygmy isn't good enough for me, I want to know the specifics.
(Sorry everyone for slightly derailing the thread)

I believe it's worth a try. Perhaps, try and get it when it goes on sale for $65 dollars instead of the usual $99.

It lets us see the breakdown of our African ancestry in different countries, so yeah ancestrydna is also a good option.

You are jumping to conclusions because you have always wanted to believe that Swahilis have little to no ME ancestry. That individual is a Kikuyu-Mijikenda mix, Mijikendas who have converted to Islam refer to themselves as Swahili. Swahilinized Mijikendas far outnumber pure Swahilis.

Pure Swahilis are one of the smallest tribes in Kenya, they are made up of just afew urban families. Common sense will tell you that selective people like Swahilis would all be heavily mixed by today given how few they are.

Pure Swahilis themselves say they are 100% Arab, I have given you a more accurate percentage before but you don't want to take my figures seriously even though your opinion is dependent on Google while I have lived with Swahili people, you don't see me arguing about Jamaican ancestry do you?

These are real Swahilis, the musician is singing in the pure undiluted Swahili language.

Swahili people originated in Lamu Island & later Mombasa, when I speak of Swahilis I am not referring to Swahilis from Zanzibar/Tanzania/Mozambique etc.

These are my 5th African DNA cousin results. I cold not get the phone to send the results to my email by flash. He had no European, Middle Eastern, or any Asian ancestry in his results. Family info : Maternal line is Efik; paternal line is Ibibio. Both ancestral lines are from Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He wouldn't upload to Gedmatch
