Fingers? When I went to school you weren't even allowed that!

Haha I just watched the second video where they say Common Core is the Communist Core and I laughed. That sounds like a conspiracy theory too. Because I am willing to bet that the same people who say Common Core is "communist" also believe that Canada is a communist country (I have seriously had Americans say that to my face) and I can verify we don't have common core in this country.

Well, we do, but courses up here are in different levels: 2, 3, and 4. Level 2 math (Math 221, 231, and 241) is called core math, they may have that. These 2 courses were where all the, well, hate to say it, stupid kids went and I always thought they taught things like calculating how much sales tax will be added to an item when you pay for it and stuff.

I noticed that the woman said that the kids weren't going to be doing conventional long division until sixth grade.... I don't remember it being that long before I learned it? I could have sworn we were doing that by fourth grade.

At the latest. I seem to recall our third grade class going into long division. I'm pretty sure fractions followed..

I think that's how it was for me too. If I'm remembering correctly, my class was doing long division at least by the 4th grade. I know we did it way before the 6th grade. That's going into middle school. They should be preparing them for pre-Algebra by then (because I took pre-Algebra in the 7th grade).
