Default The Vikings made contact with the Persians through Steel/Silk

Upon browsing the web, I came across this very recent article. Its making a case for supposed contact between the Vikings and Persians based on steel weaponry, as well as silk.

Is there anything more on this out there?

I haven't yet read the whole article and seen the whole clips but it's well known that there were routes between Svealand and Middle East through the rivers in modern day Russia.

Tabaristan still had local Zoroastrian dynasties called Dabuyid and Paduspanid that lasted until the 15th century.

From looking at the links, it seems the Vikings took interest in the Zoroastrian faith, considering they went beneath the Caspian sea and interacted with the Paduspanids there, hence why they use some of its symbology in their art.

This is not surprising. Historians and archaeologist know the trade links between Scandinavian merchants in Rus' and the cultures in the Middle Eastern for very long time. The Vikings used to establish these trade links by sending expeditions via the Volga river.

Constantinople was also a well known destination for Norse travellers to trade goods (often slaves, fur, Iron ore and pine wood for luxury goods from the silk road).
