Default Maxine Waters in line to become Chair of powerful financial services committe.

Trump has repeatedly called Rep. Maxine Waters "low IQ" and insulted her hair. Now as the ranking Democrat on the Congressional Financial Services committee, she will likely become Chair of the committee when the Democrats take power in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2019. As chair, Ms. Waters will have the power to order investigations into the questionable financial deals of Donald Trump and the Trump Organization. She will also have the power to subpoena Trump's tax records which he has failed to produce despite making many broken promises to the American public.

Maxine Waters will soon wield gavel in feud with White House
By Sylvan Lane - 11/08/18 06:00 AM EST

The public feud between Rep. Maxine Waters and President Trump is poised to reach new heights when the California Democrat is granted subpoena power as head of a powerful congressional committee overseeing the financial sector.

Waters, a fierce critic of both the president and the banking industry, is in line to wield the gavel on the House Financial Services Committee, giving her the authority to launch investigations into Trump’s bank transactions.

Industry representatives are bracing for heated hearings and rebukes from Waters, who has proposed breaking up big banks and major penalties for scandal-ridden Wells Fargo. They’re also aware that politics will infuse much of the committee’s agenda.

“The ball’s going to be in her court,” said Richard Hunt, president and CEO of the Consumer Bankers Association. “We’re not going to undermine the reputational risk in front of us.”

Waters’s dueling role as the Democratic lead on financial policy and one of Trump’s most effective foils could dovetail as she takes control of the committee in January.

“The first thing we have to understand in this committee is that we have a lot of issues and a lot of concerns, and I’m not just focused on the president,” Waters said Wednesday on Bloomberg TV. “That’s just one piece of the business we have to do.”

Waters said she’s prioritizing efforts to expand affordable housing, undo the Trump administration’s weakening of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, snuff out predatory financial products and bolster federal shelter support for struggling Americans.

But she is also expected to launch probes into Trump’s personal finances to look for possible connections with Russian nationals. As chairman, she’d be legally authorized to subpoena documents from the Treasury Department and Deutsche Bank that could illuminate those ties.

Deutsche Bank is one of the few financial firms that conducts business with Trump and has come under intense scrutiny from U.S. and European regulators for money laundering. The German bank was fined $630 million last year by the Department of Justice for allegedly laundering money coming out of Russia.---SNIP---

I watched the live press conference today, on CBS, and CNN's Acosta was extremely disrespectful to the president, and Acosta pushed away a young female intern who was trying to take his mic away after the president repeatedly told him they were finished and for him to sit down. I am glad his press pass was finally suspended/taken away. Should have been done a long time ago. CNN's Acosta just got increasingly bolder, ruder, and more disrespectful.
The whole thing was a set up. Why did Trump call on Jim Acosta out of a room full of reporters? He could have ignored him. It's been clear that Trump hates him and refuses to answer the questions being asked. So why bother? The answer has to be that Trump wanted the fight and wanted to put on a show.

Trump called on or acknowledged some of the reporters and before they even got their question out he was already insulting them with phrases like, "Oh, here's another beauty...."

He called one reporter racist when her question wasn't racist at all but she was a Black reporter. He also made a snide remark to a Japanese reporter and an Indian reporter. I think it's just Trump putting on a show.

President Trump was asked about his tax returns during Wednesday's live press conference in the East Room of the White House. He said it's still under audit. His tax lawyers said to not turn them over while they're still under audit.

Being under audit won't stop a congressional subpoena and it doesn't stop Trump from releasing tax returns anyway. Also, Trump is not under audit for every tax return he's ever sent in. There's no reason for him to withhold tax returns for years that aren't under audit. And Waters will be able to find out if he's really under audit to begin with or just lying.

She can issue subpoenas to the Treasury Department directly. She won't need to get them from Trump's attorneys.

There were a few Black reporters there. The one who asked the racist question was April Ryan, of PBS Newshour, and she equated Trump's nationalism with white nationalism and linked him to white supremacists. Trump did not make a snide remark to the Japanese reporter. Trump said for him to "say hi to Shinzo", and asked him to speak up (speak louder). The other foreign reporter wasn't an Indian reporter but a reporter from Lebanon. All Trump asked him was where he was from. No snide remarks. Trump answered Acosta's question but Acosta wouldn't sit down after he was finished, so President Trump repeatedly told Acosta to sit down. Acosta knew his question was answered and he had to hand over the microphone back to the female White House intern. She tried to take the mic from Acosta but he shoved her aside. Acosta was being a jerk. There were many reporters there waiting for their turn to ask a question.

An emailed newsletter from the White House read this (in part) : President Trump took 68 questions-from 35 different reporters. By contrast, former President Obama took 22 questions from 10 reporters during his press conference following the 2010 midterm elections.

Now I remember a woman whose accent was so thick and she talked too fast to be understood. I didn't know what she saying. Is that the "Indian" reporter you're thinking of? I don't know where she was from. The guy next to her got the next question and he said Trump would understand him because he was from Brooklyn.

Yes, with her new powers she can do that. I'm okay with that. He said his tax records are like three feet high. If Waters wants to waste her time reading Trump's tax records that's her prerogative/right.

BREAKING: Trump Receives First Official 2020 Challenger; ‘Definitely Running’ Source Said
President Donald Trump will receive one of his first challenges for the presidential election of 2020 as Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) prepares to mount his run for the White House.

“He’s definitely running,” said a source very close with Swalwell, according to Politico.

Swalwell is scheduled to travel to Iowa over the weekend. He plans to meet the Asian & Latino Coalition in Des Moines, then spend time in Dubuque with the Iowa Democratic Party chairs.

JUST IN: Swalwell to run for president: report https://t.co/zYLlIXxF6N pic.twitter.com/562LnClRxQ

    — The Hill (@thehill) November 8, 2018

Swalwell is 37-years-old and has been reportedly setting himself up to run for president for a while. He’s made multiple trips to various early primary voting states.

He has also endorsed at least three of the younger congressional candidates in Iowa and New Hampshire through a Future Forum PAC. Swalwell has reportedly requested list of people who could be possible staffers during his early state contests.

Swalwell’s press secretary, Caitlyn McNamee, also went to Iowa this fall to help out with Cindy Axne’s successful congressional bid.

The three-term congressman grew up in Iowa and was heavily involved in Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s unsuccessful presidential run in 2016. O’Malley has said he is keeping an “open mind” about running for president himself in 2020.”

If Swalwell runs, then he has a very tough uphill battle against members of his own party. It’s believed, but not official, that other Democrats such as Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, and Kamala Harris might run for president.

There’s always the idea of Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton making another attempt, but nothing should be considered official until they specifically announce it or make it be known like Swalwell has.

Politico’s report stated that Swalwell’s early visits to several states have gone well with activists thus far.

VOTER POLL: Do you approve or disapprove of President Trump’s job performance?

After the midterms, are you MORE or LESS likely to vote in the 2020 election? VOTE HERE

“People were extremely impressed by him and New Hampshire people are hard to impress,” said Gene Martin, chairman of the Manchester Democratic Party, who which hosted Swalwell last week at a “Countdown to Victory Dinner” event. “People walked away from that dinner with just a ‘wow affect’ and he worked the room like someone who was running for president.”

If Swalwell manages to secure the nomination to battle against President Trump in the election, the battle will be fierce.

Swalwell will have to overcome a massive campaign built by four years of President Trump.

The California Democrat was recently on CNN and critical of potential Russian election meddling.

UPDATE: Antifa Mob Vandalized Tucker Carlson’s Home, Car, Driveway, Door – Police Investigating as Suspected Hate Crime

The Antifa mob that swarmed Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s home on Wednesday evening reportedly vandalized his home and car — and the incident is now being investigated as a suspected “hate crime.”

According to the police report obtained by the Daily Caller Foundation, an anarchy symbol was spray painted on Carlson’s driveway. His oak door was also broken by the militant leftists. Carlson was not home at the time of the incident, but his wife was there alone. She hid in the pantry in fear as the mob banged on her door shouting threats. Luckily, their four children were not at home.

“Someone started throwing himself against the front door and actually cracked the front door,” Carlson told The Washington Post.

The group of approximately 20 people was chanting, “Tucker Carlson we will fight! We know where you sleep at night!”

OFFICIAL TUCKER CARLSON MOB POLICE REPORT

    Vilonet progressives:

    – Attempted to bust down Tucker's door
    – Vandalized his house
    – Vandalized his driveway
    – Vandalized his car
    – Political messages left on cars & door
    – Police classifying as 'hate crime'https://t.co/gMU4OeKMMN pic.twitter.com/089bhY7kEw

    — Benny (@bennyjohnson) November 8, 2018

Videos of the incident were posted by Smash Racism DC, a DC Antifa group that has now been suspended from Twitter.

“It was discovered that unknown persons spray painted an anarchy symbol on the driveway. There were also signs left on the vehicles parked in the driveway as well as a sign left on the front door of the home,” the police report states.

The co-founder of the group that organized the protest, Mike Isaacson, previously appeared on Carlson’s show. At the time, he was a professor at John Jay College, but was fired after his tweets promoting violence were uncovered. He claims that he is no longer affiliated with Smash Racism DC.

On the police report, a box labeled “hate bias/motivation” was filled in with “anti-political.”

The group dispersed within minutes of police arriving on the scene and no arrests were made at the time.

Hours after the incident, DC Antifa groups published a document containing the home addresses of Tucker Carlson and his brother Buckley Carlson — along with the addresses of Ann Coulter, Daily Caller’s Neil Patel, and Sean Hannity.

Someone affiliated with DC Antifa told The Gateway Pundit that the protest at Carlson’s home was “just the beginning.”

On Facebook, Smash Racism DC has posted a call for more people to swarm the homes of right-wing pundits over their political beliefs. In a post titled “Fascists are vulnerable. Confront them at their homes!“, they wrote that “protecting ourselves and our communities means interfering with those who make a platform for hate.”

“So, we will go to their homes and their workplaces, and find them in restaurants. We invite others to do the same! Get creative!” Smash Racism DC urged their readers.

The post concluded by saying that “fascist pundits who promote violence deserve no peace.”
