The central American pop isn't simply native it's a mixed bag, meaning european-native and perhaps a small amount of subsaharan. Just read the god damn description there.

The largest population of Central America, spanning from Mexico to Colombia and Venezuela, is of Mestizo descent - a mixture of Spanish, Native American, and African ancestry. Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, interestingly, have a greater Caucasian population, representing European migration. In contrast, indigenous Central Americans are Mayans, the descendants of the advanced Mayan civilization of pre-Colombian times. Ancient Central American civilizations produced many important innovations, including pyramid construction, complex mathematical and astronomical observations, early forms of medical surgery, accurate calendar systems, and complex agricultural methods. In contemporary society, many people with Central American ethnicity have settled among the nations in South America, reaching as far south as Uruguay and Argentina.

    Dear Rugevit,

MyHeritage is thrilled to announce the launch of our new and improved Ethnicity Estimate. It reports ethnic origins with percentages from 42 different populations worldwide, many of them identified only on MyHeritage.

Your 34.2% Baltic is probably from that northernmost strip of Estonia which doesn't overlap with East European.

My ancestry is from Viciebsk region, northern Belarus. I know around 60 ancestors on either side of my family who were born beginning in 1850-1860. Ancestors of Estonians have plenty N1c1 unlike Belarusians.

As far as I am concerned my ancestry is eastern European. It's your ancestry that appears western and southern.

I didn't see this result until now because the thread has so much irrelevant nonsense, so I didn't read it (I expected this to be in the "MH transfer thread"). However it shows they have chosen a useless reference, because, as I suspected, even South American people would test as "Central American" as they have the same kind of Iberian/Sephardic/African/Amerindian mix (or whatever their reference pop was).

It is of course nonsense that a South American person is "Central American" in any kind of a test. I would certainly never recommend that company at all, because the test results are useless. I would assume that even Central American Mestizos don't wanna know that they're Central American Mestizos (they already know), they wanna know their specific ancestry, and "Central American" if that is based on already mixed people, is a useless, pointless category.

it's the company's philosophy which is wrong, if they use a recently mixed population as a reference, where the individual ancestries of those people comes from places very far apart. Their description of their "Central American" category on the site is non-specific and ambiguous. What if they did something similar with their other references?
