I prefer almond milk and rice milk myself. I only care to have soy products when eating Oriental cuisine and am not a fan of fusion. I like to eat locally native meat and plant species, mostly belonging to Europe, established Asian foods from ancient times (peaches, cherries, apples, etc) and North America. I'm not a heavy eater of global foods, but have had my share.

I don't eat soy, but it's mainly because I don't like the taste of it. I don't like soy milk, I prefer almond milk.

Not a fan of soy sauce.

I do like endamame and miso though. And tofu, I guess, but really tofu just tastes like whatever you cook it with. I like to stir fry it with bell peppers and onions.

And I am open to tasty recipes.

No, I just took a one month hiatus from the forum, was busy IRL with gym, helping out an old school Swedish friend sort out his mental issues and so on. Anyway that moron is banned now, and I'll be more active from now on.

90 off topic posts split to the new Cyan's stupid bullshit mental breakdown thread.

I don't recommend DHT blocking medications (what are you on, finasteride, dutasteride?). I mean that shit is like, dangerous, fucks with your hormones and can give you side effects for life, such as, but not limited to gynecomastia and severe loss of libido and so on. It's not worth to keep your hair and gain all those physical and mental side-effects that finasteride can give you.

Also, soy doesn't actually block DHT which is why soy is superior to finasteride; soy regulates DHT, mainly by preventing DHT from attacking the prostate, which is why prostate cancer is basically a non-issue in Japan (less than 20 cases per year, similar statistics with breast cancer btw, which soy also protects against). If you check the Equolibrium clips I posted on the previous page, you'll notice that soy doesn't actually block DHT from being made in the body, simply that equol (a metabolite converted from the soy phytoestrogen, daidzein) binds to DHT and prevents DHT from enlarging the prostate, and DHT enlarging the prostate eventually leads to prostate cancer if you're unlucky.

However, all men do need DHT, in moderate amounts. Much like how women need their estrogens, we men need our androgens, just in reasonable amounts. Too much androgens and estrogens = side effects, such as prostate cancer and baldness for men, and breast cancer for women. DHT is a neurosteroid (meaning, it protects our brains), DHT makes our dicks bigger during puberty, gives us beards and so on. Unlike testosterone (which mainly gives us muscles), DHT is the androgen that makes us look manly. But too much DHT is obviously not good.

This is why soy is much preferable over DHT blocking prescription pills like Propecia and so on, because soy doesn't inhibit the 5 Alpha Reductase enzyme from converting testosterone to dihydrotestosteron; when you eat lots of soy, the 5AR enzyme works as it should, but Equol simply prevents DHT from attacking the prostate too much. This is why soy is far safer than anti-DHT medication.

They don't really help against hair loss. At best they can slow down hair loss for a while, but you'll still lose hair eventually (because after a while, anti-DHT medications lose their strength as the 5AR enzyme builds up tolerance against them, or something like that). And it's not really because of DHT, that men go bald; DHT has a role in it, no doubt, but there are many other factors involved in baldness.

So that's why anti-DHT medication are like a temporary band aid solution. Rogaine is safer for hair loss, but it too sucks.

You should eat soy, plenty of soy. It's much safer than finasteride/dutasteride and arguably more efficient if you become an "equol producer" (not everyone is). Real food does not give you side effects like drugs do. And baldness, heart attacks, stroke, high blood pressure and so on, are all the result of a poor diet.

You should try this soy milk:

^^ Far better than O'Boy and Pucko we have in Sweden (chocolate milk brands). Also available in vanilla nowadays. It's a EU brand though, so I'm not sure if you have it in Canada. Only problem though is that it's sweetened with sugar instead of palatinose.

It's very salty, but in moderate amounts with vegan avocado/inari sushi, damn

I have a 250 g package of frozen edamame waiting for me when I get home from the gym I agree on tofu, it depends on whatever sauce you fry it with, but tofu is really nice if you fry it properly.

    Elias to the rescue!

Well, it depends on what you got in Canada, but I use this Weider Oat Flour Brownie (which I'm sure you can get your hands on in Canada) along with chocolate soy protein isolate, to make porridge:

    https://www.weiderworld.com/brands/w...rmet-oat-flour

^^ Tastes really nice. Here's my standard oat-soy recipe, you'll need a huge bowl for this though:

    1.2 liter cold water
200 g of Oat Flour Brownie
100 g Soy Protein Isolate Chocolate
100 g frozen strawberries (add them after microwaving to cool down the porridge)
    150 g banana (mash it)
60 g shelled hemp seeds (add them after microwaving and having let the porridge cool down a bit, to preserve them raw; very important)
30 g raw cocoa nibs (also add these afterwards)
    20 g canola oil
    5 g iodized table salt
1 Core Female Vitamins (this is the only multivitamin pill I use nowadays, because each pill contains 40 mg soy phytoestrogens and daidzein--->equol converting probiotics )
Microwave it for like, 10-12 minutes at 800W.

Keep in mind: I have really good taste, and I guarantee you DragonRougue, if you try my recipe here, you'll eat this shit like every day until you're 120 years old, lol. And at 120, you'll look and feel like 40 with this diet, I kid you not I can give you the calorie/macronutrient values later, if you're interested in trying out this delicious low calorie recipe.

This is why you start out taking low dosages (1 milligram typically per day) and then if your body begins resisting it, you increase the dosage. In general you can at least stall hair loss for long enough to get a transplant and never have to be actually bald. 90% of men even experience hair regrowth with DHT blocking medications.
