    He was found in Omsk
scythoid peoples. Straight daggers doesn't make a Tagar connection. Judging from the poor skull pics, he looked rather like heavily mixed with local Siberian tribes, who later became absorbed by Samojed, Khanty/Mansi and diverse Turklar tribes. Therefore this dude wasn't an ancient 'Vlad the Impaler', and no Skilurus at all.

"You're thinking of that Brad Pitt film, Troy, right? I doubt the Trojans invented that practice though, I mean it's not like much is known about the Trojans or their culture. Even their language is barely known, so they probably just added that in the film as a cultural element or something."

    Elias,
    You are absolutely right.
Some say that Trojan spoke Luwian, but very little is known about their culture except from the Iliads which probably carries some Greek bias.

I don't know about this guy, but there's a paper on the way with new Scythian, Sarmatian, Hallstatt and many other Iron Age samples. But it seems to be stuck in peer review or something.

I think that's simply to weigh down the eyelids until rigor mortis sets in as a corpse looks a bit disturbing with its dead eyes open.
