I'm not too well versed on cheekbone structure of Africans, my only observation of the bust is that the facial features seem pretty consistent with contemporary Egyptians, in particular the eye shape and cheekbone structure, which is pretty common among my ethnic group, so the bust seems pretty accurate to me.

    Seated scribe:

"Special attention was devoted to the eyes of the sculpture. They are modeled in rich detail out of pieces of red-veined white magnesite which were elaborately inlaid with pieces of polished truncated rock crystal. The back side of the crystal was covered with a layer of organic material which at the same time gives the colour to the iris and serves as an adhesive."

Hoda Kotb is also Egyptian. She seemed a little shocked by the reveal, or maybe surprised. She's always around black functions! I thought she was a light-skinned black woman!

The reaction on social media/ twitter has been pretty intense, pretty strange how offended some of these people are, you'd think they were personally insulted by the team who made the bust.

I think this is the image, that many people of color have in their minds, in regards to African Americans. I think her skin tone is arguable. The Egyptian phenotype varies right? I personally don't think black or white, when I think of Egyptians. Her genetics may be interesting.

This. I think both folks dissing the reconstruction or even promoting the "non Negro-ness" of the reconstruction (Elias) are pretty much missing the point. The Reconstruction looks somewhat like the older reconstruction...the only thing that is off are the non human looking features below the nose. IMO - This reconstruction is pretty close to the older "Blacker" one

SOME PARTS look almost identical in terms of Eyes, high Cheekbones (which IMO are a Nilotic Throwback Facial flatness, high nose bridge etc.) The new one has a less aqualine nose and fucked up mouth.....which is borrowed from the King Tut Reconstruction which was done by the same french woman......or perhaps it looks like she just substituted some of her OWN facial features for the lower face of the queen.

Sigh...they always want to see themselves in Africans.
