    Default Facebook’s Censorship

Seems like Facebook is cracking down on dissent, and working hard to make its platform a Disney family values safe space.

Facebook has banned the American white nationalist who popularised the term "alternative right".

Richard Spencer's page on the social network was removed on Friday along with two other pages he controlled: that of his National Policy Institute think tank, and one promoting his AltRight.com news analysis website.

Facebook has not commented, but the BBC understands the blocks are permanent.

Mr Spencer continues to have active accounts on Twitter and YouTube.

Facebook's action follows its decision to expel the anti-Islamic group Britain First and its leaders last month.

The US-based technology giant's terms and conditions state that it does not permit "hate speech", which it defines as including content that directly attacks people because of their race or ethnicity.

Last week, Facebook's chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg, told Congress that the "question of what is hate speech versus what is legitimate political speech" was an issue that he and his team "struggle with continuously".
    Raised arms

Mr Spencer has denied being a "white supremacist", but has spoken in favour of creating a North American country restricted to white people. He has also said he was proud of slavery, and has described Islam as being a "black flag".

The 39-year-old has been active in far-right politics for about a decade and claims to have created the phrase "alternative right" for a magazine headline. The article's author has said they in fact "co-created" the term.

However, he rose to prominence in 2016 when he was filmed celebrating President Trump's election victory by shouting: "Hail Trump, hail our people, hail victory," to an audience, some of whom responded with Nazi-like salutes.

Mr Spencer was also filmed making a similar gesture at a karaoke bar that same year.

He then played a prominent role in 2017's Charlottesville protests, where he opposed the removal of a statue of Confederate leader Robert E Lee.

Subsequent speeches at the University of Florida and Michigan State University's campuses sparked protests of their own.

Facebook's decision to act now does not appear to have been triggered by a fresh event involving Mr Spencer.

Rather, Vice News has suggested that the move was a response to a question it had fielded about why Facebook had not already taken such action.

The news site reported that another page belonging to the far-right Nationalist Initiative had also been blocked.

Twitter briefly suspended Mr Spencer in 2016, but said it had done so only because he had run multiple accounts.

So, is this decision good or bad? I think it's a little bit of both. It's bad in the sense that Facebook is cracking down on free speech, which is really never a good thing. However, it's also good in the sense that people really shouldn't use Facebook, and the more inclusive Facebook is of anything other than attention whoring (at heart, Facebook is basically a dating app), the worse off we are. The fact that people use Facebook to discuss world events, promote their businesses or political parties or their books, and so on, all this is a problem. We're better off the day Facebook dies. And the more Facebook bans influential people, the better. Not saying Richard Spencer is a huge political figure, but if Facebook keeps it consistent and bans for example, Robert Spencer from Jihad Watch, Donald Trump, and basically anyone who has ever voiced support for restricting third world immigration or anti-Islamic views and so on, eventually, more and more people are going to leave Facebook, if they haven't been banned already.

God damn! What a stupid decision by Facebook. From a 'Free Speech' angle I'm against it.
Richard Spencer is nothing more than a media whore with a massive ego. Why anybody with half a brain takes this fool remotely seriously is beyond me!?
Thanks Facebook for making him and his alt-shite ilk look like victims and martyrs!

My point is, Facebook is like Tinder but with more functionality, features and lots of other stuff such as liking political groups, businesses, news feed, watching videos and so on. The more Facebook strips itself down, the better. Facebook banning influential populists is always a good thing, and the less value Facebook has, the better. The more Facebook becomes a politically correct safe space, the less people will be using Facebook.

I don't know if Richard Spencer will be seen as a martyr after this. He will gain some credibility though, because he didn't get banned on Twitter whereas the more hardcore white nationalists got banned.

Facebook has not only top-down censorship but it is built to encourage ideological echo chambers from the bottom up. Anyone can easily block anyone for any reasons, and both users become completely invisible to one another. Groups are fundamental to Facebook, and within groups the admins can block any user for any reason, and the group becomes completely invisible to that user. If Facebook was a nation, then it would be both the largest nation in the world and a totalitarian state. It competes with China. When Zuckerberg was testifying before Congress, it wasn't just some geeky kid being brought to heel. He was speaking as a competitor of power.

Thumbs down Facebook Takes Down Event Page for Anti-Caravan Protest

Facebook has deleted an event page hosted by San Diegans for Secure Borders (SDSB), citing a violation of their community standards. The event was a protest against the caravan of illegal aliens aiming to enter the U.S. from Mexico.

On Thursday, SDSB received an email from Facebook informing them that their event, titled “STOP the Caravan of 1500 Illegal Aliens from Mexico,” had been taken down.

“Our event page had been up for about four weeks and had about 950 people signed up to either attend or ‘interested’ in attending,” said Jeff Schwilk, founder of SDSB.

“There was nothing on it that ‘attacked’ illegal aliens, just the facts about their ongoing scam to claim fake asylum to waltz right into the U.S. Now it is gone,” he said. ” Zapped for hosting a 100% peaceful and lawful event to oppose the unlawful invasion of our country by up to 1,600 illegal aliens from Central America and Mexico.”

As Breitbart News reported, Facebook recently released their 27-page guide on content moderation. In it, the social network makes it clear that language regarding the “immigration status” of persons might be considered “hate speech.”

Speaking on Breitbart News Tonight with senior editor-at-large Rebecca Mansour, Schwilk said that he was personally put in “Facebook jail” after his event page was suspended: “All of a sudden I woke up yesterday morning, went to my Facebook, and it said ‘you’ve been logged out.'”

“They put me back in Facebook jail for 30 days, again. This is about my fourth time. The other ones have just been for posts or comments that were not in violation of the community standards, but just, somebody saw something they didn’t like [which] they reported. Facebook doesn’t care if it really violates their standards as long as enough people complain, and then they zap it.”

“This time they zapped the whole event. It’s gone. We had over 900 people signed up to either go or interested in going. We had all kinds of discussions and posts going on, active interactions, getting ready for this thing and what we were going to do… Which was, again, 100 percent peaceful, lawful. We were going to go down and have a rally and show that no, the American people are not okay with this.”

“They keep tightening the noose on us,” said Schwilk. “They want us all to leave Facebook, they want us off, so it can be a far-left liberal bastion for the sharing of our ideas. They don’t want our ideas shared.”

Breitbart News has reached out to Facebook for comment.
    http://www.breitbart.com/tech/2018/0...ravan-protest/

I'm not on Facebook but every now and then I'll read an article about Facebook.
My opinion is this Facebook group's page shouldn't have been taken down. It's censorship. It does look like Facebook is a "far-left liberal bastion".

    What are your opinions?
    Are you on Facebook?
    Is Facebook left-leaning?
Are they unfair to right-wing, patriotic people?
    I'll add a poll.

Are they unfair to right-wing, patriotic people?

Of course they are, this has been known for quite some time now. You have to be as blind and dumb as DragonRouge for you to deny it or not believe it.

    Is Facebook left-leaning?

Yes, without a shadow of a doubt.

    Are you on Facebook?

I deactivated my account years back. I always found facebook cringe worthy.

You have people who post everything they eat.

You have people always posting a status update with TMI. Like hello, no one gives a fuck.

You have people who post too may memes and share posts.

Facebook is straight up cheese. It's for mainstream thinkers as @EliasAlucard likes to say. I activate it every now and then for a lol or 2.

I have also noticed the rise of pornographic images on profile pictures in Facebook. I have reported many, but they never get taken down. For example, I was looking up Neko Atsume on FB, the popular mobile app game of kitties, and I noticed a very vulgar profile image for someone with the same name. I reported it at least 10+ times to FB, but they said it can stay.

Jews are scum of the Earth. Ever since Susan Wojcicki got a hold of Youtube, it has likewise had significant and similar issues with lewd shit catered to kids. Until the Jewish problem is handled, such things will become commonplace. They spread degeneracy to undermine the goy.

Here's the profile I was speaking of. I reported it at least ten+ times. I'm all for putting this guy and the Jews into their "proper places".

    NSFW:
    https://www.facebook.com/iyutan.tayo.9480

He named himself after a popular children's game and added pornographic images, and Facebook won't do anything about it because it's run by a bunch of filthy Jews. Note, YT is also run by them now, ever since Susan Wojcicki, and it has a similar problem.

I noticed that as well when I was on FB years back. They have no problem with degenerate shit like that. I too reported a bunch of degenerate crap like that that was posted of course by the usual ghetto suspects or leftist degenerates.

Wow, scum of the earth. I really don't want them in our politics and media but guys like @Longbowman are certainly ok in my book.

But I agree with what you say about them spreading degeneracy. Whether they're doing it purposely or not, they are doing it. Have you ever seen the documentary The Eternal Jew? There is a scene where they show how (((they))) were spreading degeneracy in Germany. Here start at the 37:26 mark. They talk about how German culture was bastardized and negrolized when (((they))) were in positions of power. Pretty much what's going on today in most European countries.

Please nobody here accuse me of being an anti Jewish either. I'm far from it.
