    I meant the R1a claim for Achaemenids specifically. I don't doubt that Sassanid could be T, maybe the entire family? After all, there was a very long 200 year cutoff between Achaemenid and Sassanid dominance. Iranic peoples had been in central asia, and made an eventual migration and conquest of the plateau (and India).

    If R1a were the case (as it is so rare in Iran) you'd have to expect more steppe cultural influence in the Achaemenid era art and society, and that the leaders (specifically Cyrus) wouldn't look like native Iranians, which he did.

    I found some yDNA T haplogroups in ancient Iran:

    CA Tepe Hissar Chalcolithic Northeast Iran I2512 T

    Sorry, but where does it say that the Medians and Achaemenids were R1a? Wouldn't they be much more likely J2, J1 or G?
