Cool GEDmatch Clarity For Black Forum Members

    Greetings,
Regular GEDmatch as well as Genesis was definitely a puzzle for me in the past. I'm not sure if any other Board members are aware but the PUNTDNAL "africa only" preferably seems to be the best calculator for Black American testers. Most of the other calculators give lots of clusters or almost the same exact tribes are given but in different order. The PUNTDNAL africa only via oracle I would say actually gives more accurate results that also coincide with your percentages. I've observed a few other's calculations & drastically different results are shown, plus phenotype may also seem to match. On this calculator you want to pay close attention to the <Using 2-3 Population Approximations as well as percentages.

    Here's my results

    Kit Num: WL6390843
Threshold of components set to 1.000
Threshold of method set to 0.25%
Personal data has been read. 20 approximations mode.

I think EthioHelix is best for African americans cuz they usually also have additional west eurasian admix. for me ethiohelix K10 + french is also very accurate, mainly because im pred. european but also almost half african (35-43%)

That calculator would most likely be better because you are biracial. I'm referring to testers who are predominantly Black (70s-90s). Ethiohelix K10 French still gives heavy clusters in their population approximation. One technique that you can use is review at least three random testers who are black & you'll see the significant differences in their tribal breakdown, unless it's someone who has almost identical direct ancestry. The percentages will also match for the most part. Now when it comes to our traces of Eurasian admixture to find clarity, another calculator would have to be used for that.

Yeah ok that's true, your right XD i'd recommend EthioHelix K10 Africa only then though, but puntDNAL's africa only test seems to be way more detailed in some way XD idk though, in my case it's quite confusing because i am mixed between alot of african tribes.

    for example:

Nigerian, Togolese, Ghanaian, Congolese/Angolan, Mozambiquan/Tanzanian, North african, and maybe ethiopian too.

So in general no test is ever 100% accurate for my african part so i have to just look at percentages and make a rough estimate XD

eitherway yeah, ethiohelix french K10 definitely has heavy clusters lol, also their euro percentages probably have added noise to it in some way, i tested a triracial puerto rican (33-40% spanish, 30% SSA, 10-13% amerindian, and 20-25% berber probably) and he scored 49% euro on ethiohelix K10 + french. it's definitely possible too that my euro is a bit lower too ( i assume 54-55% rather)

but yeah, i get your point XD my results cannot be compared to that of a pred. SSA person.

I feel your pain bro. It took me a while to finally figure it out too. Maybe, it was the fact that idiotic American psychiatrists giving me a chemical lobotomy with neuroleptics so my brain was not functioning ( Americans are idiotic fat uncultured meatheads who think they are above and beyond). But it was also that it is esoteric and you anthropological, geographical and genetic knowledge to figure it out.

Right, I'd give this calculator (PUNTDNAL africa only) a 90% out of 100%. There are other calculators that give horrible clusters, tribes that we don't even share much in common with.

Yup true, i can see. That test also guesses my african correctly, strangely enough tests usually only give me 25% african in the mixed oracle and 4th/3rd pop oracles.

Its quite weird imo, maybe my african is just too mixed and gets rendered as something else, idk.

but yeah, i can see why you like that test more because it gives quite detailed african populations. Like: [Nigeria] Yoruba, [Kongo] Congo, etc lmao, it's pretty good

as you can see the 3rd pop renders me as 25% black african, 25% north african, and 50% french or european.

in general north africans have some euro, and SSA admix, so this test roughly gives me 30% SSA, 10-15% North african?? and the rest going to euro, im not sure how much probably 7-8%

this test in general is very accurate for me, mixed mode oracles are realistically low, because some tests give me oracles of @2 or 3 and it renders me as 71% euro and 29% SSA for example, which is not accurate at all, despite the low oracles.

i really like this test IMO.
