These are skilled jobs and worthy of respect!

It becomes more and more like in the West here, in Poland, the skilled tradesmen are being paid/ make money comparable to middle tier programmers/ IT specialists.

Just learned that an electrician, who can manage all the new-built house installations and such, can earn like 5-7 kPLN a month net (i.e. after taxation - what he really has as his spending money). This is fucking serious salary in Poland (1370 - 1900 USD a month).

    Yeah, Polish Plumbers FTW!

“We know each other,” he agreed. “They say that you follow in my steps.”
“I go my own way. But you, you had never, until just now, looked behind you. You turned back today for the first time.”
Geralt remained silent. Tired, he had nothing to say. “How... How will it happen?” he asked her at last, coldly and without emotion. “I will take you by the hand,” she replied, looking him straight in the eye. “I will take you by the hand and lead you across the meadow, through a cold and wet fog.” “And after? What is there beyond the fog?” “Nothing,” she replied, smiling. “After that, there is nothing.”

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I used to post on a video game forum and became friends with a Jewish kid from Beverly Hills. Half of the forum was filled with brats and young adults who lived in a gated community and had nothing better to do than to watch the idiot box, play video games and be on the internet more than the average Joe.

Anyways back to the topic at hand. I guess you could say I descend from a lower class of individuals and I think the MAJORITY of Americans and people in general can relate.

I'm sure everyone of us has some royal or noble ancestor way back in time in the family tree, i.e. Baron Dinglefritz knocked-up the scullery maid and she gave birth to the Baron's bastard retarded son when the Baroness wasn't looking.

paternal grandmother's family were apparently wealthy people
havent read a lot about my paternal grandfather's side

my maternal side were majority campesinos/lower class
although supposedly my grandmother's family wasnt poor (though they werent rich either) but during that time in Mexico, not being poor made you rich since the middle class was non-existent

anyways, she didnt inherit any of the money because she married my grandfather who was poor, very poor
my grandmother had left with him when she was only 14 (my grandfather was 15), they got married, lived together and my grandmother had to learn how to cook very traditional affordable mexican food that usually mostly lower class eat

eventually they came up and became working class

my dad's side of the family was definitely the poorest, my dad lived in cardboard homes, very dirty clothes, ripped shoes and all, and their way out of poverty was to do illegal stuff, that is how his family became middle/upper class in Mexico,

I don't judge but this is why I am a lot closer to my mom's side of the family, they started from the bottom and worked their themselves up with decent jobs

    Pretty much same. In Finland we had a strong phenomenon called as class circulation. Practically it means that when a family belonging to upper classes had 6-12 children, which was common, some of them were married to lower class men or women. A chain of cotter/soldier/craftsman-land owner-trader/priest-different kind of lords-kings is common, because the "ancestral loss" in Finland is stronger than in Central Europe. Mostly my ancestry is of small landowners.;

    Three simple facts about Finns:
    1. Baltic Finnic languages (including Finnish) never came from the Volga basin along with ancestors of present-day Finns.
    2. Finnish I1 (around 30% of all Finns) has Germanic roots from the late Bronze Age or the early Iron Age.
    3. As to the Finnish prehistory we have no evidences about any Iron Age (or later) east-to-west migration, but many unquestionable evidences about west-to-east migrations.

True, though I was referring to those descended from the top 1%, you know like the Koch Bros, Rockefellers, etc.

Gated community in Beverly Hills is usually "New Money", my adoptive grandparents from both sides were dirt poor, but then my parents were able to work up to a middle to upper middle class income. Recently, I was told that they thought about moving into a gated country club(they could've afforded it) when I was still a baby, but didn't want me to develop a superiority complex, so they picked a middle class suburb instead .

Definitely, it's a profession that will always be needed, I have some peers who work a trade, making more than my college degree peers.

I descend from farmers, labourers, miners, soldiers, carpenters etc and most of my ancestors were probably lower/working class.

The difference here is that this strata mixing has been forced in a way, like a marriage at the point of a gun. My "noble born" grandmother had to "hide" herself in the post-German territories of North-Eastern Poland. It was where she met my grandfather. I suppose she decided, it was better for her health to marry a "peasant", to be out of the "suspicious bourgeoisie" list. Being on such list meant for the secret police, that you were on "kill-on-sight or arrest - torture - rape (if woman or torture more if man) - interrogate - torture..." routine.
Secondly North-Eastern Poland lagged behind in Secret Police operations, they were like 5 years behind in realizing Tovarish Stalin purges.
So it seems my grandmother decided to better be safe than sorry and went for "double cover"

My paternal grandmother only chance, of surviving the gulag/ Siberia, was to marry this 3 years younger than herself teenager, who was sent for frozen tomb with his "terrorist Father" (who was visiting Siberia for the second time in 1940, this time courtesy of a neighbour who denounced him as a "hero" of Polish-Bolshevik war of 1919-21). Once the teenager hit the age of conscription he could enlist for 2nd Polish Army in USSR and with this Army there was a chance, slight but realistic, to flee from the frozen tundra to Poland.

So it happens that both my grandfathers, of rather lower strata, married two "Noble born girls" and their main obligation as husbands, was to save them from certain death in rather unpleasant circumstances
