The people who went further were also the same background as me, and one was Native (she was my biggest rival as a kid, because she was closest to me in times... my and her parents used to laugh at how much we hated each other during competition, but would be friends afterwards).

    As for the bolded: Nope.

There are charities for kids sport, now, though. They are successful, Sidney Crosby came up through one (he's from the ghetto).

But yeah, my old coach was a scrappy old Irishman from Belfast who used to recount stories of The Troubles in between sets.

Interesting comments below. I gave up halfinbetween reading. Frustrated relationships between both of your communities.
"Political correctness is the (...) revenge of the (...) intolerant, (...) dunce upon all the liveliness in this world. It is no more than the (...) resort of minds (...) that, for them, a revival of Stalinism is preferable to the pain of a glimpse of self-it's the last sigh of the beast that Nietzsche identified as ressentiment."

Things were fine for years, then it got dug up again.

Nice to see Anglo-Quebecers are on our side, though.

    Another update:

Chinese scientist who claims he created world's first gene-edited babies is missing amid rumours of arrest!

I don't think he should have been arrested.

There is an online rumor that He, the CRISPR baby scientist, is under house arrest and is facing the death penalty.

CRISPR Baby Scientist Could Face Death Penalty, Colleague Fears

Under guard, He Jiankui is finding himself increasingly isolated in both China and the global scientific community.

    Excerpt:
Some of He's colleagues are emerging in the press, to either disassociate themselves from him or bring attention to his potential plight. Robin Lovell-Badge, of the Francis Crick Institute in London, helped organize the conference in Hong Kong where He attempted to defend his work.

“He really thought that he was doing good, that what he was doing was the next big thing, and really important for the good of mankind,” says Lovell-Badge, speaking to the Telegraph.

Chinese Scientist Who Gene-Edited Babies Responds to Death Penalty Rumors

"He read the newspapers that came out overnight, which suggested that he may face the death penalty."

    Excerpt:
“It’s not clear that he’s been arrested, actually,” said Lovell-Badge. “He’s apparently — according to Chinese news reports — he’s in an apartment at the university where he has an appointment, and there are guards. I have no idea whether they’re armed or not.” Regardless, He has not been in direct contact with the press since the controversy erupted in December, and there’s no clear indication that He’s email to Lovell-Badge was actually sent by He.

While Robin Lovell-Badge’s initial speculation about He Jiankui may have launched a thousand news stories, it doesn’t seem that his later comments have gotten as much attention. Inverse will continue following this story as it develops.

I hope He is okay. I wouldn't want him to face the death penalty over this.
