    Default Outer Banks & Virginia islands dialects

    These American accents are fascinating, there is proly older threads on this subject but there are too many so i wont bother to even look

    anyhow, these accents sound like the west country british accents

    They sound distinctly southern appalachian. But far more distinct from the more common southern appalachia dialects you hear in west VA (region), West VA (state), Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia or west of that into the former frontier states (many of which were also settled by southern appalachia folk).

    yes, it would seem that there is def cross relations between both dialects

    west country + scots irish

    appalachian being alittle more scots irish and vice versa for the other one
