    Default CINCO de MAYO

Cinco de Mayo, a day of celebration to mark the day of the battle of puebla. The battle of puebla was in Mexico and was fought to halt the advance of the French. The reason this battle is celebrated in the U.S. and not so much in Mexico is because had the French succeded, they being sympathetic to the confederate states, it would have opened up supply routes to the southern states bypassing the union blockade. Mexico helped to end the US civil war sooner by defeating the French.

Also, for those in Califonia. Cinci de Mayo is Pio Pico’s birthday. He was the last Mexican governor of California.

And up here in Canada, we use it as an excuse to drink.

    Cheers!

Yeah and Canadians don’t really need an excuse to drink.

But Mexican restaurants will drop their prices on Cinco de Mayo so we drink there.

I really like mezcal, and I can get some for an arm and a leg on Cinco de Mayo as opposed to the regular price of an arm, a leg, and your first born. Pretty good deal.

I already had my Cinco de Mayo today. Some Chipotle and a margarita after that at a nearby bar here in Chelsea.

It's nasty right now here in Noo Yawk. Too much rain and shit.

I was shocked when I went to the east (last year) for the first time and ate at a mexican restaurant in Gettysburg, PA. They got those in New York too? I think this yr I’ll see the atlantic ocean for the first time, I hear the waves come in the wrong way

If they have Mexican restaurants in Bumblefuck, Canada, they'll have them in New York.

Although the best Mexican food I ever had, outside of my friend's house (her parents are from Mexico), was in Texas.

Although if you go to the Atlantic coast, you have to have seafood.

Tourist season starts in two weeks here. That's when all the restaurants here raise their prices. They lower their prices off season, otherwise they will go out of business.

I live in a tourist trap.

We live in “snowbird heaven” over here. Every time theres a snow storm somewhere we get an endless caravan of RV’s, then when we hit triple digits, we watch them all leave again.

I believe this year is Boston, we’re gonna do the tourist site seeing crap and all that but its gonna be summer cause I cant do cold. I mostly been in CA/AZ all my days. I hear they pronounce that like “Ba-a-aston” over there.
