Anyways, I said Black American because a lot of the self-identified blacks here are not actually fully or ethnic African American but something else. You never know unless you ask directly.

We have tons of Jamaicans, Haitians, Afro-Trinidadians and other Afro-Caribbeans here as well as a lot of West Africans. Afro-Hondurans and Afro-Panamanias are also visible too and they tend to be very SSA. The Afro-Dominicans here are more in the light griffe side but I've seen some that look nearly unmixed. They tend to stick to their own though if you know exactly what I mean.

I'm sure your grandma can pass in other parts of the Caribbean.

She can pass a many things because she has a "pan african" look because of her mixture.
She can also pass as a Dominican IMO.

I cant pin her to a specific African nation, but I think she can pass in many countries in the New World among the Afro populations

Can you elaborate on this? Curious.

Could even imagine her in a old timey New Orleans setting, which correlates to the Haitian connection I guess lol.
    Interesting.

Are you referring to the DR? If so I never knew that.

"Pan-African" look? Interesting. I need to do a DNA test. But does she look southern Guinean? Or Sudano-Sahel? I think the former.

Since you're the Angolan expert can she pass in Angola? Because one poster said she can due to head shape.

    You from NY too?

New York probably has the most diverse Black population in the USA. I would say Goergia or the DMV is second. I've met many Afro-Panamanians and Hondurans in Brooklyn.

The Bronx has also a quite diverse black population. But for a lot of the Dominicans they are all African American LMAO. I think I had the same perception at some point too

It is my way of saying that on her particular case there must be a milat-noir marriage or two on the family tree. The family is from the South, yes?
