Katerina is young and attractive. When she said to her guys on dates she's a world champion in Muay Thai, the guys didn't believe her. Somewhere she said: she is hiding her identity. She wants to be as any other girl.

Did you see the story in the Crime Thread about a white couple that ran out of fuel on the highway were shot dead by three black males because they were white? The white couple had employees with them that fled the scene until the emergency services arrived and told them what happened. I really worry about you going to South Africa. I know you are very liberal minded and a metis but a stranger will just look at the color of your skin and think you are white and hate you for it.

On topic, I haven't trained in any martial art or combat sport.
Going to be with 11 other people, big group.

More worried about being taken out by a mosquito. Malaria is no joke, it kills more people in Africa than anything else... but usually only kids and the elderly since living in malaria endemic area from a young age allows people to develop some immunity so it doesn’t often kill healthy adults. Being from a cold part of the world, I’d have no natural resistance to it and it could make me very sick. Got pills to prevent it, but they’re not 100% effective. Basically, for 3 months after I get back, a fever will be a medical emergency and I’d have to go to the hospital right away.

Probably true in general. But Asian traditional martial arts have been weakened by obscurantism. So it's possible that some aikido practitioners preserve information not available in the west, and that some practitioners can really fight. The good news is we don't have to resign ourselves to the shortcomings of any martial art. Miseducation by martial arts can be fixed.

Some of the best books (for fixing out of touch martial arts):

I thought you were going solo. A big group is a lot safer. I also thought you were going to be roughing it in a hut but you already told me you will be in a nice chalet. I'll stop worrying.

I've been bitten by lots of mosquitos when I lived in NYC and NC. I used to get fevers but as far as I know I never had malaria. I haven't been bitten by mosquitos here in Florida. My area gets sprayed with mosquito repellent. Aerial spraying. In Florida I've been bitten by a huge spider and red ants. There was a Zika scare a few years ago. https://www8.miamidade.gov/global/so...uito/home.page

Our _classic_ (wrestling) sambo is perfect. 95% training, 5% is wrestling.

Combat sambo is another story. Take a look Emelianenko brothers, and Oleinik. They don't have anything special. They learned from sambo hard training that made them special.
