Top secret locations of 150 US nukes hidden in Europe are accidentally leaked in Nato report sparking major security fears

SECRET sites storing 150 US nukes have been accidentally revealed in a Nato report, it has been reported.

The United States and its allies in the Nato military alliance never disclose the locations of the nuclear arsenal but it appears the six sites have inadvertently disclosed.

A draft version of the document entitled “A new era for nuclear deterrence? Modernisation, arms control and allied nuclear forces” was published earlier this year.

But Belgian newspaper De Morgen spotted that it contained details about the nuke sites.

A section on the nuclear arsenal read: “These bombs are stored at six US and European bases — Kleine Brogel in Belgium, Büchel in Germany, Aviano and Ghedi-Torre in Italy, Volkel in The Netherlands, and Incirlik in Turkey.”

The study was written by a Canadian senator Joseph Day for the Defense and Security Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

The final version of the report has now been published online with specific reference to where bombs are stored deleted.

    NUKES REVEALED
Instead it refers vaguely to aircraft that could carry nuclear weapons.Senator Day told the Washington Post the original document was only a draft and “all information used in this report is open source material”.

A Nato spokesman said: “We do not comment on the details of NATO’s nuclear posture. This is not an official NATO document.”

It has been reported that the US has deployed the B61 bomb in Europe.

The presence of US nuclear weapons in Europe is a relic of the Cold War and they were originally stationed to deter Soviet aggression.

At the height of tensions, the US is believed to have deployed 110 nuclear weapons at RAF Lakenheath, which were removed in 2008.

America has indicated it may spend more than £703 billion by the 2040s upgrading its nuclear capabilities.

The United States and Russia are due to meet today to discuss the possibility of a three-way nuclear arms treaty, including China for the first time.

The talks are being held two weeks before the formal end to the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty between Russia and the US.

The 1987 agreement was signed in 1987 in Washington D.C. by President Ronald Regan and Soviet Union General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev and greatly reduced nuclear weapons in Europe.

By May 1991, 2,692 missiles had been eliminated and 10 years of on-site verification inspections followed.

Donald Trump signalled the America would withdraw from the treaty because Russia had been "violating it for many years".
Earlier this year a UN arms chief said the threat of nuclear war is at its highest since World War II.

I'm not really interested in this story but I am posting it because I think it's important and maybe some ABF members or visitors would be interested in the news story.

I think it would be a waste of money to upgrade our nukes.

    What do you think?

Do you believe what media publishes on many occasions?
The locations of nuclear bases in Europe were known a long time ago.
And the number of nukes each country has?

The question is why this information is leaked now? Quickly removed, then released ago. Some say Americans want to relocate the nukes further east. Germany, Italy never wanted them understanding the consequences. They had little choice after loosing WWII having military restrictions accepting American military bases , 6th fleet navy base in Italy including the nuclear missile bases.

Donald Trump signalled the America would withdraw from the treaty because Russia had been "violating it for many years".
I assume the treaty in question is Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty between USA & Soviet Union. The treaty was signed so Russians & Americans from West Europe and Turkey didn't nuke each other. Americans already withdrew from the treaty, so did the Russians.

The fact that "Russia had been "violating it for many years"" is a bluff. Russia invited USA to investigate the missile they suspect is violating the treaty. Americans didn't respond. The exit from the treaty is the response to Russia's two new hypersonic weapons, which Americans don't have. No country has them at the moment.

One is the Avangard gliding vehicle claimed to travel 30 times speed of sound (37,050km/h or 23,010 m/h). Just to give you an idea in a direct line the Avangard will travel from Moscow to New York in 12 minutes. In the last test December, 2018 the Avangard reached 27 times speed of sound. This is a low speed of a meteorite.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avanga...glide_vehicle)

Another missile is Kinzhal travels at 10 times speed of sound carried by planes. The missile can carry both conventional and nuclear warhead. It has applications as nuclear warheads are strategic and not used.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kh-47M2_Kinzhal

Russia is also developing hypersonic Zircon missile travelling at 8-9 speed of sound that will be carried by battle ships and submarines.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3M22_Zircon

Having these missiles make existing anti-missile defence systems useless. As the missiles are travelling so fast that no anti-defence system can intercept them. All the money Americans spent over the years building anti-missiles defences around the world are wasted.

    The National Interest article.

Why America Should Fear Russia's New Avangard Hypersonic Weapon: "We Don't Have Any Defense"

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s March 1, 2018 annual annual state-of-the-nation address became his most-cited since his 2007 Munich speech. “Listen to us now,” he warned NATO after unveiling several hypersonic, nuclear-capable weapons: the Kinzhal missile system, Sarmat ICBM, and the Avangard glide vehicle.

Another measure American congress wanted to take last year is to put missiles in space . American military experts said we don't need it. Russians already have a mobile missile that can shoot down satellites in low orbits. The congress approved the budget for this project regardless what they were told by the experts from American military. Often, the congress is like that. If they don't know how solve the problem, then spend more money.

Some people asked why Russians began the arm race again. Russians said we didn't start it. During Bush presidency America decided to build two anti-missile defence systems in Poland and Romania, which Russia opposed ever since the decision was made to build them. These two systems can be quickly turned from defence to offence systemsd. They are close to the border people in Moscow won't have time to escape their apartments and offices.

I don't know much about it. Belarus also had nuclear weapons which is Soviet legacy. We gave it to the Russians in the mid 90s. It was a good decision. Maybe for some small countries nuclear weapons is a good weapon to have in the arsenal. There's a lot responsibility and pressure with having nuclear weapons in one's arsenal.
