European people (I am American but my ancestors are European) have lighter skin simply because in the deep forests of places like central European , Norway and also the cloudy overhead of Britain/Ireland the skin had to be lighter to turn the sun rays into vitamin D. It is the same for all races and ethnicities though that the skin can process the sun into vitamin D. Thing is in the winter environments of Europe skin needed to be lighter to get the proper vitamin D. Even today most people are deficient in vitamin D that is why milk, in civilized societies, is fortified with vitamin D. Table salt is fortified with iodine etc.. etc..

On midsummer dated to summer solstice people roll burning wheels at night near water that represent the sun.

Kolovrat common in all Slavic cultures.

Rolling a burning wheel is wrapped with straws around it.

Sometime wheel is put on the top of a pole

A short promotional video of midsummer lasts for 2-3 days in Minsk this year. The festivity is associated with fertility and celebration of sun.

True that is why the Nazi cults had the black sun and esoteric occult Nazis, like Heinrich Himmler, worship the black sun image.

My juicy ass vitamin D is essential for our body, for us and for plant photosynthesis, which allows us to have food, all related. Thank you my little sun.

What about latitude? Flavistic Euros go south and get skin cancer, melanistic people who move to higher latitudes suffer from vitamin D deficiency.
I had a growth on an ear last year, when I told the doctor that I only went north in the summer he dismissed the idea of melanoma and said it could only be a basal or squamous cell carcinoma. Actually it turned out to be non-cancerous after a sliver of ear was removed but it had been irritating if I laid on it while trying to sleep.

I had a conversation about this with my doctor when he examined my ear as I'd had an Australian colleague with Irish ancestry who'd had a melanomic mole removed. He spoke about the experiment of placing people of NW Euro descent in the sub-tropics. A lot of knowledge about skin cancer has only come to light in the last 50 years for just that reason.
