Default Most Jewish countries according to MyHeritage.

I don't know how good this one is.

But, they seem to have Hungary pegged as fairly Jewish, along with Argentina, and Russia, and well a bunch of others have statistical Ashkenazi heritage.

The description of the table where the figures above are from is: "The percentages represent the portion of MyHeritage DNA users with Ashkenazi Jewish ethnicity in that country."

The figures are not adjusted for the effect where people with certain demographic characteristics like high SES are more likely to take the test. Also Ashkenazim might be overrepresented because they are disproportionately interested in geneology.

I don't know what the definition of having "Ashkenazi Jewish ethnicity" is. MyHeritage also shows that "the portion of MyHeritage DNA users with Finnish ethnicity" is 46.7% in Sweden and 29.1% in Kazakhstan.

The blog post you linked to said,

7.6% of the 4,981 people living in Hungary who took the MyHeritage DNA test were found to have 25% or more Ashkenazi Jewish ethnicity. [...] Hungary's lead grows further at lower thresholds for Ashkenazi Jewish ethnicity. 12.5% of the people tested in Hungary have 10% or more Ashkenazi Jewish ethnicity, compared to only 4.7% of people in the USA and 4.0% in Canada. Meanwhile, 4.2% of people tested in Hungary have 50% or more Ashkenazi Jewish ethnicity (equivalent to having at least one parent who is fully Jewish), compared to 2.3% in the USA.

However, the proportion of test takers from Hungary with "Ashkenazi Jewish ethnicity" was listed as 18.3%.

    Finland wins again:

Among 37 countries in the MyHeritage database with a sample size of 1,000 or more DNA test-takers — which includes most of the countries in Europe — the countries with the smallest percentage of Ashkenazi Jewish ethnicity were Finland and Norway.

I think Finland scored even lower than Norway, because it is not included on the list above.

I lold at this: "In the Holocaust, about 560,000 of Hungary's Jews were murdered." (http://www.ihr.org/jhr/v20/v20n2p26_Crowell.html)

I guess I had sex with a crypto Jewish woman in college who told me she was Hungarian-American. Anyway, if New York was a country rather than a state it would be 1 on the list, even higher than Israel, and I live in New York.

Hmmm, now that you guys have mentioned it, a lot of Jewish Brazilian people I know have Hungarian background. For example, Roberto Justus, who was for some years known as "the Brazilian Trump" (he was the host of the Brazilian version of The Apprentice TV show).

MH is probably the most unreliable of the current testing companies due to the way the use references. They are also the cheapest, and they push strongly via advertising in many countries. I suppose they are just more available than any other test and they're cheaper, so they have become popular regardless of how good they are.
